How many guys here track/race their Z28's?

I started recently, and will continue to develop the car.

I installed a wicker bill and a set of camber plates/aligned the car and hit the track last weak in a open class at a local track...Best setup factory car i've ever tracked..better then my 13 GTR/13 Boss ( The Z28 came within 2 seconds of the Boss--the Boss had 20k of upgrades and was on 315 r6's)or any M's/Porsches i've run..

These cars are way different then SS's or even ZL1's on track...

After tracking the car... to me the pit falls of the were the lack of factory camber in the suspension and the lack luster top end power ( the great chasis setup makes this stand out more)

Thoughts...Plans?

Upgrade paths you guys are doing or planning on..?

I have a wicker bill and camber plates to install and also try to make an event at ASR (Arroyo Seca Raceway) just to finally drive on at track instead of GT6. From there, I will determine what else is needed

6 track day events last year; hoping for 10+ this year. When this car is driven, there's usually a track at the other end...

Will definitely track mine when I get past 1500 miles. Now at 750.

How important are camber plates? Does the factory suspension allow for increased camber without adding the plates?

That's using it for what it was made for!

MARKSTI,

I've tracked mine a good few times but maxed out the negative camber up front before I did. That got me to -2.0 approx which I felt was not going to be enough based on all of my last cars destroyed the outer edges of the front tires.

For reference sake they were a 2013 STI with lots of suspension mods and -2.7 front camber, and a Scion FRS with lots of suspension mods and -2.5 front camber. In both of these cases the cars still probably needed a bit more negative for even front tire wear.

So my assumption that -2.0 on the Z28 wouldn't be enough falls right in line with your comment...

However, I basically destroyed the inside fronts of my tires so -2.0 was TOO MUCH negative camber. A quick check of the factory recommended "track" alignment in my owners manual shows a recommended -1.5 on the front camber.

That being the case I've just reset the car to that and we'll see how it goes... My assumption at this point is that the car's suspension and chassis are much stiffer than my previous rides and therefore the car doesn't roll as much so far less front camber is needed.

That's my 2c!

Problem is that there is not enough caster. My 1LE max's @ 2 degree camber and 1 degree rears and kills the outside fronts and rears. I got some of the Moreno camber.caster plates and plan on trying 2.5 camber front and 8 caster like Pedder's recommended. I've run mine as a DD with the 2 and 1 and have yet to hurt the inside of the tires like with an old Porsche.
