Noise Level With Headers

Considering Headers but cannot find a clip (other then a manufactures) of the inside cabin noise level.

Looking for some honest opinions about the increased noise level inside with headers, high flow cats hooking into stock exhaust.

Won't really be able to tell much diferents on the inside. Although on the outside you'll be able to tell a tad bit..

I could try and get a sound clip from mine. Inside it is only slightly louder than stock when driving around but pretty loud when you got WOT, which is exactly what I wanted.

Outside, I am told it sounds like NASCAR when I passed my friend at WOT on the highway.

I have SLP Long tubes with high flow cats and then the rest is all stock.

Rpeka, I haven't done this on the Camaro, but I had long tubes and no cats on my 2005 GTO. I have found that the cars with the mufflers at the rear do not have that much of an interior sound difference when installing longtubes. My GTO was very loud on the outside, but inside the car it was very tolerable. I took my wife on a 5 hour drive in the GTO and she didn't complain inthe least about the noise. In constrast, my 68 Camaro and my old 1987 Aerocoupe Monte Carlo with the mufflers under the rear floor pan were much louder inside the car. It may also have something to do with how well they insulate the cars these days.
Bottom Line: Don't let the worry of increased noise keep you from doing this.

Like everyone has stated... Not so bad on the inside but outside it's wicked when the muffler butterflies open up at WOT. I have some videos of the interior shared on here shot with a gopro so the audio isn't accurate of course but you can see we're talking in the car as normal. I even use my bluetooth with my phone on the freeway. Only an issue if I step into WOT.

Probably the Best all around combo is just this, with a set of Dynatechs you will be very pleased with the results.

Ted.

Hi Ted,

I was looking at the Stainless steel works. Why do you prefer the Dynatechs?

1 7/8---- 2" ----- 2 1/2? What is the difference. I would guess low end torque? I have an automatic.

If I get a set of 2" Dynatechs and high flow cats (keeping the stock mufflers), do I need a new tune?

So maybe this the wrong place to ask this and I am not trying to jack this thread but....

I am wondering what maker of headers you went with and why you chose them.

Yes because you're increasing the amount of air flow exiting the engine.

The reason I picked SLP is two fold. I know the work that SLP did on the 4th Gen Camaro SS and the Firehawk. The family along with GM kept the Camaro alive a couple of more years and they are a solid family business.

I was lucky enough to visit the plant and watched them build some headers. They have racks of steel made in USA. They take those long lengths of pipe and cut them and bend them to shape for each cylinder and put them in a bin. Then they take the 8 bins and weld the pipes together. They ceramic coat them, bake them and polish them all right there in Toms River NJ, USA. They use all quality, made in USA material, assemble everything in the USA with USA workers.

I love mine! Sound great, look great and made in USA.

I am not paid to do SLP commercials, LOL. That is just me and 12 years of experience with the Hamburger family and company.

Yes because the longtubes will relocate the cats further back which causes them to heat up slower which will cause a check engine light to appear. Also to get max performance a tune is a must.
