Warning - Check your ZL1 for Spring Spacers

My 2024 ZL1 was delivered yesterday and when I got to the hotel with the car, I noticed that they had not removed the front coil spring transport spacers during PDI
The hotel was only 2 blocks from the Dealership, no damage done.
I didn't want to go back to the dealership the next day, so I walked across the street to Walmart, bought a $25 scissor jack, lifted each side of the front body enough to open up the coil springs and pulled out the spacers.
I think these transport spacers are only used on ZL1's and if the mechanics do a non ZL1 Camaro PDI they won't be looking for them and they wont' remove them.
I know this topic has been posted on older threads, but I thought I'd put out a fresh warning to the few who are still waiting for their ZL1 delivery or those who have never checked to be sure that the transport spacers were removed from their car.

Unfortunately, dealerships failing to remove the shipping spacers has been a reoccurring issue on both the ZL1 and SS 1LEs. Glad you discovered them and were able to remove them before continuing your trip home. My guess is that dealerships where this occurs are either slack in performing their PDIs or they don't sell many ZL1s or 1LEs.

The spacers are there to help protect the front spoilers on the cars during shipping. They basically provide more clearance for the front end for loading and unloading the cars during the shipping process.

My 24 ZL1 is in an enclosed trailer getting hauled to me as I type this. I explained to the driver that the car would be fairly low and to watch the splitter when loading it. After he got it loaded the other day he said it wasn't that low and he had lots of room. He picked it up directly from the dealer, I haven't seen the car yet. I'm suspecting the dealer either forgot to remove them or figured since the car is getting hauled to it's final home they would leave them in for easier transport. I'll know later today.

This has been happening since the 5th gen ZL1.

My 2018 had them still on when I took delivery of my car.

They will need up the magnaride if left in for anyone reading this so they need to be removed before you do any driving and are for transport only. So don't throw them away either.

I would keep them in the trunk in case your ZL1 has to be put on a flatbed/rollback. Might save the front splitter from damage.

I’m excited for you to get your car, thank goodness the weather has been good for transportation through the mountains.

My 2023 ZL1 also still had the spacers installed. I drove home 99 miles in the rain (only time my ZL1 has been in the rain). I didn't know to check for them, but some one on the forum noticed my front end looked as if it was sitting too high and told me to check and remove. I did' there were still there and I removed them.

They forgot to remove the spacers off my 21 ZL1. I drove 60 miles home from the dealership thinking something was wrong. Sure enough, the spacers were still on.

It took extra time at the dealership anyway as they had no porter available who could drive a manual transmission. Anti-theft device, indeed.

I found my spacers in my (uneven/gravel) driveway the morning after I brought mine home.

Thanks. Met the transport off the ferry in Nanaimo last night. First thing I checked for was the spacers. They got pulled at PDI. I'll have to check to see if they are in the trunk later today. Shipping was a rodeo, I'll have to share that story one day. If you ever need a car hauled don't use Turbo J out of Calgary.

Just wanted to add that there is a sticker on the driver side window that tells them to remove the spacers. Can post a pic if someone is interested.
