How soon did you start to notice your top had an issue?

I've got 2400 miles in my car as of today and the top looks great. I had it serviced once for some creaking in the back. It's a12 leftover and I can see where the service with t he tape re-enforcement has been done. I'm probably going to hit 36000 miles in two years. Would rather an issue show up under warranty. Has anyone been out of warranty and had a problem? Will GM fix known issues then or do you eat it. Finally, what is the cost of a new top with the updated frame?

My top issues didn't show up until I had the car 6 months and it had about 22k miles on it at that point (I bought it used with 11k miles).

I chose to buy the extended warranty for just this reason ...I learned this lesson the hard way with my wife's BMW 650 convertible. You don't even want to know how much I got hosed on that vert top

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the extended warranty does not cover the convertible top. You may want to re-read it.

Yup, the extended warranty doesn't cover the top......I was told it covers the mechanism though.
