Ok so the XM tuner is built into the factory radio, so when you replace the factry radio, you no longer have an XM tuner. Each brand of naviagation unit, Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, etc. has their own XM tuner that connects to the head unit. In my case i had to purchase the pioneer GEX-P920XM (thats the part # for their tuner). This connects to the navagation unit and allows me to have XM radio again. Once i installed it, i just called XM/Sirus and they transfered the service from my old to the new tuner. Make sure you have the radio ID when you call them. Its on the radio or can be found if you tune to channel 000 on the radio i believe.

I bought dash kit when it just came out so I got the first version and it took me 3 hrs to get the radio in. The rca plugs kept getting in the way. I waited 10 mins connected dash kit when just as been posted the steering wheel controls did not work. I then tried to update the firmware could not get to installed. Called Scoshe ts and told the backdoor way to get the update installed. I got the update installed the first time I turned on the car the dash kit did work. ts told me to do the 10 min reset again. Did that but still it did not work.
They was just getting the 2 version out with the new software and firmware done. I sent it in and got the 2 version. Installed the radio and dash kit and worked all right. The only thing I have a problem with it now If the sun is shinning in the passenger window it hard to see the LCD screen

Edit to add what camarograna2 stated. Tt is is a good write up for the future buyers of the Scosch kit

How do you know if you got version #2? Just curious as to what version and firmware is on the touch screen on your version. Mine has IO51 and SW68.

Intresting wonder what the IO:51 is? SW:68 is the firmware i guess, i would also assume IO51 is higher or later than IO50, whatever that is.

Thanks for getting that info.

Was wondering if the Z140 has a detachable face plate or not?

How do you update the firmware on the Scosche? After the install, what steering buttons do not work?

Just to let everyone know, i have one reoccurring issue.

The Steering Wheel Controls. When i first installed, they worked, then one day they stopped working. I talked to scosche and they recommanded reseting the scosche pannel. That required removing the two connectors to it and waiting in the car for 7-10 minutes for the car to go to sleep and then reconnecting the cables. I did this and the controls started working fine again. They worked for a week or so and now they dont work again. I contacted Scosche and they recommand either trying the reset again or sending the unit back for warrenty. I am going to reset them one more time and if they fail again, i will be sending the unit back to them.

For those of you that dont do the install youself, having to reset the unit would require a trip back to your installer, because you must remove the scosche dash kit to get to the connectors to disconnect and re connect.

I'll let you know of any progress on this issue.

Yes, LewisB22 gave you good information there. The tuner is typically not located inside the factory stereo in the vehicle, but it can't be reused once the factory head unit is taken out because it doesn't feature a connection that will plug into a new head unit. This has been resolved in some GM vehicles with a new adapter that is available, but doesn't work on the Camaro. Each aftermarket head unit will only recognize a specific satellite tuner in terms of a connection and controlling it. Just like the Pioneer that Lewis mentioned.

Interesting. Keep us updated. I'm still kinda waiting around to bite the bullet on the Scosche kit.
