2002 Z28 Tradein

Hi all. I have been lurking. This is my first post. I am told by my dealer that my 2ss/rs/black on black/man/sunroof is about a month away. He has given me written assurance of msrp. I currently drive Camaro z28 2000. It has leather/T top/Auto/Power drivers seat. It is in good-excellent condition. I have been quoted $5500 for trade in. Is this reasonable? If I were to sell as private, what should I be able to get. Any help appreciated. When I look at kbb values, I get higher trade in values. Are these values that I get online still valid?

Thanks John

How many miles? Is it 2002 or 2000? Your sig says 2002 but this post says 2000

you can get a good idea on www.kbb.com

the dealers i used to work for used that to give customers a decent idea of what your trade might be worth.....

oh, and never use excellent condition....excellent is only used when the car was brand new on the lot...

but, from what you said $6-7k sounds about right for a 2002

You will always get a lower price for a trade-in, your better off selling it on your own

KBB balue

At KBB, they give $6,675 for trade in and $8655 for private sale. Do you all think these values are accurate, or lagging behind current trends.

Sorry, my numbers were suggested retail price. You should be able to get at least $7500 by putting it up for sale

There is always someone in Mobile and P'Cola looking to purchase a nice ride like yours. I would list the car on Craigslist tomorrow for about 12K with pictures. Also look on some other camaro sites for people looking to buy (PM me for more info on this). I sold my 02 Z28 vert auto with 50K miles on Craigslist about 3 weeks ago for $14,250. You should be able to sell yours for no less than 10K pretty easy. Good luck!

Take the money the dealer is offering you if your in a hurry, and don't want to wait for buyers to get their financing or money in order.

Listen, I would put it up for sale, if it does not sell in the month you have then show up with it the day you pick your car up. If it does sell, then you do not show up with it.

The used car values are lower than people think right now, so many people are hurting and need fast cash, those are the people you are competing with.

Good Luck.

As a reference, I sold my Silver 2002 Z28 in Feb. - manual, leather, ground effects, Corsa exhaust, and 98,000 miles - for $9500 privately. It depends on the market in your area, but it took 4 months for me to sell it for near where I was happy with. Trading it in will always be lower, plus, if you ordered the 2010, the dealer probably knows you're not going to walk away if he lowballs the value.

Definately, sell it outright and hurry. Sell it a few thousand over trade in value. If no sell in a couple weeks, chance it to a thousand over dealer trade. Its money in your pocket and use the extra coin for your down payment or an exhaust upgrade.
