Advice on cam swap.
I currently have the vector motorsports 2.5 cam and are looking for more power next year. Do you guys think it would be beneficial to swap out to something like the night fury? I hear about how well the torque on the NF cam is, but i don't know enough about cam specs. Any input is appreciated.
Vector Stage 2.5 = 227/239 .613/.623 114+4 Night Fury Cam = 233/242 .629/.629 113+3 |

All depends on where you want the power at. What supporting mods do you have with the Vector Stage 2.5?

I wouldn't think you would pick up more than like 15 peak HP, with a probably loss in power under say 3.5 or 4K.
Not worth the cash IMO. |

That's where I was going with it I would either boost it or throw a 150 shot.

Dont do it. Get some ported GM heads instead. A true gain would be going for a solid roller LL from cam motion.

Thanks for the replies guys. I finally updated my mod list in my signature. I'm thinking of doing the TSP ported heads as they are only $750 and reputable.
Other ideas i'm throwing around are a 25% UDP and maybe some water / meth injection to get some more timing and make the car run the same when its 60 or 90 degrees out.

Not much of an option that you left on the table if you ask me.
Answer would be negative. Are there any swap options out there that would be worth doing? Absolutely. +1 on the LL, for his application. |

"For The Street" "for The Track" "for Occasional Track"....it's a hard line to read into....1/4 mile....1/8 mile....but after reading your first intro post, "for the street" doesn't seem to be the limiting factor here .
Generally speaking, Hydraulic cam (like yours) is more livable for "street" and typical street end users. LL cam is when the limiting factor, "street" quote on quote, doesn't apply anymore, and you want every available thing on the table to toss at it. If you are going to do heads anyways, I would LL that sucker, and get my extra xx HP that I left behind . For NA that is. |

I did some research on the LL cam, still kinda confused about all of the finer details. What I'm gathering is its.....a lot of cost and possibly need new springs each year. Or am I missing something?

Solid rollers just need their Lash/preload measured are reverified /adjusted.... the problem with them is they do beat on the valve train more in some ways, not as in changing springs every year....

Yeah a LLSR cam isn't really much harder on the valvetrain than any other aggressive hydraulic roller cam. The main thing is the added cost of better lifters and rocker arms. Periodically, you have to pull the valve covers and check the cold lash to make sure they're still in spec. Other than that, springs should last pretty much the same. They'll need to be replaced about 20-30k miles depending on how much you lean on the loud pedal.
