Did my dealership polish and wax my car???

So my car has been getting a lot of swirl marks since I got it so I decided to get it polish. I left my car at the dealership, they charged me 100 bucks to polish and wax it. When I went to pick it up the next day it looked amazing most of the swirls were gone but after two washes all the swirl marks came back. Is it possible they just put some mirror glaze on it and it washed away??

It's very likely that they threw some glaze on it with heavy fillers and it's disappearing.

How are you washing the car?

From what your describing it sounds like they just put on a glaze and wax to mask the swirls and not really remove them.

x3... and not terribly uncommon.

Lots of car lots use fillers to make cars look nice temporarily, soon as you wash it a few times the defects reappear as the fillers fade.

I wash it by hand, two bucket method once a week

What were you using? A rotary? It's pretty difficult to get holograms with a DA polisher.

You're on the right track then. Just wanted to make sure you weren't putting the swirls right back in it.

Explain your process here, if you would. If you were using a rotary buffer, I'd steer away from that and grab an orbital or dual action polisher. Those machines, with the right polishes/pads will finish down perfectly, hologram-free.

Paint correction SUCKS.

I paid to have 2 stage paint correction done w/ my opti-coating. Cost me like $600 total, but I have to say, best money I've spent. Wash/Dry done. No wax, no polish nothing. Love it.

Glad you're happy but most in this forum would have rather spent less on all the equipment and products, then did it ourselves. We'd have enough to do SEVERAL cars while we're at it.

Even after paint correction shouldnt there be a coat of wax on it?
