Well, they claimed it was an LS2 in the concept, though it supposedly also had AFM and could reach 30 mpg on the highway. As for my low ball estimate ... I figure its better to be pleasantly surprised and have more power than to be disappointed with less.

it didnt have AFM, and it wasnt an LS2. the "production" model would have AFM and could reach 30mpg (before they changed the rating criteria)

as for the results.... I already have upgrades planned if its an LSA. if its DI... thats a lil trickier

Maybe we're looking at this a little different. I take concept cars as an idea, so the idea behind that silver car in 2006 is that it had an LS2. Besides, I have never heard that it had anything else. Care to share?

Not hard evidence.. but common sense would say GM is not going to spend somewhere in the hundreds of millions up to a billion dollars designing a next generation motor and not include a technology that has no downside from the get go.

oh please tell me that we're getting this engine. This XV8 sounds awesome. I would like to see this in some of our Cadillacs too. ATS-V and if we get a new real flagship. Maybe Fbodfather could help in the development of the STS/DTS replacement. Cause it sounds like Cadillac just really screwed it up.

That is actually quite old news.... That was my fault I did not see the date on the article. I tried to delete it before anyone quoted it but I was not fast enough. Sorry for the confusion!

I know, I saw it on the article. Why was it scrapped or something?

I don't know enough about the background, but it sounds like the gen V engines will be pretty similar to that. Maybe not the 3V design, but direct injection, cam phasing, active fuel management ... sounds almost like a precursor to them.

but, I think the LSA is almost a surefire bet for the Z28. mainly because they've already been building the motor for how long now? compared to a 5.5 that hasnt yet made it to full production.
maybe it will be introduced and only available in the z28, if you recall the 302 was introduced in the camaro and thats all that it was ever available in

not a chance, it is the future.

otoh, the Z/28 was ready almost a year ago, why a supposed 2012 release?
maybe the LSA was nixed, and can you say "the DI Gen 5 was not ready".
