Doesn't that seem a little early unless some dealers screw their pre-order people and get some lot cars in first? I wouldn't think you'll start to see many lot cars otherwise until late July IMO.

Kinda, the first cars will be all V6's to be showroom cars for each dealer. Then they start filling orders at a 50% 50% split

Not necessarily.

They have the capability to pull a V8-influenced 50/50 split. They also plan on building 100,000 thousand cars for the model year. That means they have a year-long ability to produce 50,000 SSs. Right now, pre-orders account for something like 8,000 V8s. That leaves a bit of wiggle-room.

They are also going to built one V6 car per dealer for use as a demo/test-drive car. Those will be the first V6s out of the plant. I don't think anyone here can guestimate when you'll get your car if you order.:(
100K divided by 12 months is 8,333 cars a month. If we've only preordered some 10,000 cars and GM built all of them first, then preordered cars would be done in less than two months. So, I'm guessing they will stretch the preorder builds out for a few months and we'll see lot cars in late April early may.

Just my thoughts based on Dragon's, scotty's, TeamLynn's and others comments.

You really think that aside from your un-allocated freebie you're going to have V6 lot cars by end of March? Really?

Slightly flawed in that the MY production is going to be more like 18 months; more like 5500 avg/month. Even if they start at full production, which they obviously won't, we know a good deal of month one will be the "freebie" V6's for each dealer. Then we know they're going to "do their best" to fill the pre-orders which we know are running 80% V8...

I agree strictly by the numbers they should have all the pre-orders filled by the beginning of June. It just ain't gonna happen IMO.

I'll meet you half way. My guess is that 2011 MY will begin in the 3rd quarter of 2010 so lets say 15 months for about 6,600 cars a month.

In the end I think it's possible to see lot cars in May. Not everywhere, but most big markets.

MHO.

I have to agree it'll be the large markets that see "stock" first but 2 weeks after the start of production on March 16th? I severely doubt that.

Now that I'll agree to. There is a good chance that the big markets/ big dealers will see a couple lot V6's come late May.
