With the factory exhaust system I could not hear the AFM kick in, but with the aftermarket exhaust I could hear it kick in at about 1700 RPM.

I hated mine with the AFM. It is far from a seamless transition.

Sorry but it's true.

You "heard"?

Do you know what it is?

At cruising speeds, when you're CRUISING at a constant speed - not going up hill, and not requiring the power of all 8 cylinders - 4 cylinders keep the car running at the desired speed.... kinda like an engine equivalent of 7th gear.

When you step on the gas, need power to go up hill, or want to take off... you're running on 8 cylinders.

I know some folks with aftermarket exhausts have some trouble...but stock, you'll never know it switches, by ear or feel. Have you driven an AFM-equipped vehicle, yet?

You can't tell it by sound or feel. Since there is no other outward measure of this other than your reduced fuel consumption, what's the problem?

I really don't understand why everyone hates AFM I have it and I think its great for my longer trips. I have a muffler delete and the I can barely hear anything when it changes is over. The only time I really notice it, is in between stop signs, again its just a slight sound difference. But I don't know maybe my muffler shop did a better job than some. As far as transition between 4 and 8 yes I can feel it, but I also feel my wallet sigh a little too lol.

Buy a Predator Tuner and shut it off! Then mod the s!#@%* out of it.

Im not worried about gas or anything, so i really can care less about AFM. If i wanted to save money id buy a ford focus or a prius. I want a v8 like they always were, or ill just learn manual and get an Ls3

I NEVER noticed it kicking in and out before I put my Borla on and its no big deal to me because like others have stated a tune takes care of that little nuisance if it bothers you. I personally didn't care one way or the other about the AFM but didn't want a stick due to the heavy California traffic I deal with. It is much easier and comfortable throwing it in drive and going without constantly shifting and riding the clutch IMO.

I have diven the auto and the stick......and (don't get mad at me auto peeps), but I have always said a true sports car/muscle car is always a manual. Just so much more fun to shift up and down.

only have 380 miles on my auto 1SS but have ran it thru the gears with tap shift, and have had it on the highway in D, but guess I'd better have more miles, and mods before I comment, just mostly what I have heard, and a Tune can change that among other things.
