Hoosier Slicks

I've been talking to another C5 member that I race with, 1709, and be both kind of agree. With the back brakes being as large as they are we are pretty much stuck with a 17" wheel which narrows our tire selection down to 1 tire if you want to run a slick at the track. There are option to change out your back brakes but its expensive and if you also like to road race the car you need the larger brakes. The Hoosier 28/10R17 is narrow for the car and we both find ourselves spinning even with the tires aired down to 16psi. 1709 contacted Hoosier today and was told with enough interest they would look at making a wider slick like a 28/12R17. Anyone interested can go to their website in the "contact us" section and shoot them an email.
https://www.hoosiertire.com/

It's a long shot trying to get enough interest. But maybe worth a try

There is a huge lack of tire choices for weekend racers with newer cars. I've even talked to a few guys that would be interested in an 18" slick. Most of the newer performance car have 15" rear discs or close to it. If you know any mustang or dodge guys see if you can get them to post on their forums!!

I'll shoot them a message. I am going to consider the 17" M&H drag radials next. There a little wider. What we need to do is petition our track and get them to quit cheapin out and put some stickum down.

We know how tight they are with the glue. Lol. Better chance of getting wider tires made!!!

What wheels are you planning on using with these 28x12x17 slicks? Pretty sure that wont fit on the 17s we are running.

You don't think they will run on 10" rims??? My 28/10R17 slicks pull in from the edge of wheel. I think at 12" they would still fit a 10" wheel

You guys don't need a wider tire. Most of you are at the rwhp point where you need to address the suspension. A wider tire isn't going to do anything not to mention the goal is to get the smallest tire to work.

I went through this same crap a few years ago.

On street tires yes. Hoosier has some 28/12R15" and list recommended rim width 10"to12". I realize the 15 has more sidewall but I'd be willing to try them

I went through it with you! LMFAO!!! I remember putting those baby V6 brakes and im not doing that again! Would a 12 wide tire fit on an 10 wide wheel Jamie?

I was looking at some M&Hs that said the minimum of 12'' wide wheel was required so i figured i couldn't do that.. but im guessing it has to say between 10-12 recommened right?

yes a 12 inch tire will work on a 10 inch rim, I have bogart 17 inch rims with m&h 325x40x17 tires and they fit fine.
