DIY Trunk Velcro Mod
As silly as this may sound, all you guys n' gals out there running around with stuff in your trunk will quickly figure out that the carpet just doesn't like to stay in place!
All that stuff slides from side to side any time you turn left or right. When that stuff slides, it slides the entire carpet. I opened my trunk to find my bags all the way on the left side of my trunk and all my carpet bunched up. Solution? Velcro. Talk about easy. Just run out to your local home depot, wal mart, target, etc. and pick up a couple small boxes of velcro. Lift up the carpet and line the bottom edges with the velcro cutting the strips to fit and then stick them the ones on the bottom in place. Take off the top sticky liner and simply drop the carpet in place securing it by pressing down firmly. Pretty simple. Cost?...$5.00 for two boxes Time?...5 min. I have not had a problem with sliding carpet since...and it just pulls right out if I need to remove the carpet. I know it may sound silly like I already said. But, I don't like my stuff sliding back and forth in the trunk. |

I wondered what you were talking about when you said you were velcroing your trunk

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal. But, put stuff back there and take a turn. You'll wish you had the stuff secured in place and the carpet velcro'ed in place. It works.

Yea looking at used ones I noticed the carpet was off. Thought it was wreaked but now I know it's just not secured down. Might could also put some sound dampening material down on the sheep metal too.

I bought the rubber trunk mat for mine. It helps to keep stuff from sliding around and it looks great.

I haven't seen a specialized rubber trunk mat for the Camaro. Is there one? Not a bad idea.
I just put velcro down under the entire mat all the way around. I have not had a problem with it since. |

PnC- I ordered one directly from my car dealer. Came in about a week and ran about $125 - can't remember the price exactly. It fits like a glove in the back and is very sound deadening and leakproof. It was the first thing I bought for my car and I'm very glad I did!
