3.91 gears install prices?

I just got a quote from LMR (parts and labor) For installing some GM 1LE gears (3.91) on my 2010 camaro ss (6 speed) It is $1,250 out the door. Is this a fair price or do you guys recommend someone else?

I'm looking for someone here in HOUSTON TX to do the work.

Thx for your input

Well, the LE3.91 gears avg $250, about $150 for bearings and shims. That price sounds high for the labor. Takes appx 1 hour to remove the center section, another hour to install, plus the time to setup the rear. Should be able to be done in a 4 hour window. Dont let them charge u GM book labor time.

I should add, i plan to pull mine back out Monday and put a Eaton Truetrac in it. I plan to be around $1300 including the TrueTrac which cost me $585, new replacement 3.91, new bearings, shims, and labor.

my chevy dealer and a local gear shop quoted me $700 for labor only. Id say $1250 for parts and labor to install in car is a good price.

Think you are paying more to have the gm warranty. Charging u ~7 hours labor for a 4 hr job. Of course I'm having to redo mine at my expense since first shop can't get it right. Think most non dealers are getting $500 labor. See if u can get them to drop a hundred off the price.

I've quoted a few different places and $1200 is right around the magic number.
