Last minute confirmation: 20x9s with 275/40s all corners??

Hi,

Just about to order the 275/40 tires for the 4 new oe replica 20x9 wheels I got.

No fitment issues on a 2011 SS right?

Thanks!

Hello Maker. I just want to clarify if I got you correctly :

you are going to fit 275 rubber on all four corners all of them with a 40 profile??

No front fitment issues ( 20x9) but steering really stiffened. I didn't like it, almost felt like I had no power steering. Took the 275/40s off and went back to 245/45

I think the second number is the sidewall dimension right? Is that the profile?

275mm cross section off the tire
40 ( % ) off the cross section for the tire wall

That's one of the issues I wanted to point out to. All the other ones are much less relevant after the dramatic results you've got.

In my experience w GM vehicles a small increment , say from 245 to 255 is achievable w minor consequences (light shudder at parking speeds when steering is close to full lock, noises from pump during parking maneuvers at tight angles.

The intended wheel width requires replacing the power steering pump for a larger one or considering a servo assisted unit which in itself is a major mechanical/engineering challenge.

Hope you find an acceptable option for your project

I agree with the stiffer steering, no fit issues.

So you're suggesting that I go with 20x8 on the front?

Anybody else out there with 20x9 275/40 all around?

I'm seeing different opinions on this. Gahhhh!

I already have the 4 20x9s. Just need to know what size tires to run.

Is the power steering really that effected by the extra inch??
