Anyone can look into these codes. Just go to this website: http://engine-codes.com/p0420_chevrolet.html

Here we go again, read the fine print of your warranty. The manufacture only has to show you broke the terms of the warranty agreement.

Magnuson-moss and I'm taking my HFCs off before I go to the dealer to avoid any trouble

I looked there and there was no reference to P015D.

How many miles have you had the cats on? What brand cat? New or used? P015D is front passenger O2 sensor delayed rich to lean response ...that sensor helps sets the fuel trims so YEA it definitely could cause backfiring, could be a bad sensor or not attached correctly if you just installed the cats. The other codes are for your rear O2 sensors and can be expected with HF cats but they wouldn't cause backfiring.

Put the old cats back on and see if the problems stop. Tacking the cats out completely doesn't add much hp, so I'm not sure how much having those is worth to you. They seem to be causing you a lot of issues.

This is why I waited until the warranty was close to up before I started modding.

Magnuson Moss only works if you can afford an attorney and a long court battle. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of the dealership. Taking the HFCs off (and anything else that can raise a red flag) is a good idea.

That is what I will probably end up doing. First I'm going to replace my o2 sensors on the HFCs because if they are not working properly and making the car run lean, that might be why it is overheating. If that doesn't fix it, I will take them off and put stock ones on and off to the dealer.

Replacing the front O2 is the easiest thing to do to see if it corrects the backfiring. Really interested in how miles you have on the cats, what kind they are, and were they new or used ?

Since you already decided to add the HFC's, why not just take it to a reliable tuner/Performance shop and have them do the work. Codes get fixed, car gets tuned and you're good to go. There are probably 10 such shops per square mile out in California.
My very first mod was Borla Catback exhaust system, but my research showed a tune was not needed (and it wasn't needed). Car still ran great and sounded much better.
I really like my dealer's service dept/advisor. But I wouldn't take this kind of problem to them since it appears you are causing you're own problem.
And stop fooling yourself about the Magnuson-Moss Act being 10,000% on your side and it scaring dealers into doing what you want. Nice in theory, but that's not the real world.
