underhood lighting mod

I completed another mod. (it never ends).

I wanted some under hood lighting, (supplied by Advanced Automotive Concepts, aka: AAC) to show off the engine area at night time. I decided to stay with my theme of using blue LED’s which are installed under the foot wells in the interior and inside the trunk.

First thing was to drill a hole for the switch which is mounted to the roto-fab radiator cover.

I then started to run all the wiring for the lights. I wrapped some small gage wire with electrical tape for the entire run. Trying to keep it tucked up underneath areas to hide it the best I could.

Next came the wire inside the fuse box. (Thanks to Bee Sting for his write-up in this area).

Afterward came the work to be done on the LED’s housings, painted them flat black to match the mat.

Then I had to cut the mat to allow for the lights to tuck up inside the mat.

I used contact rubber cement to fix the LED housing to the mat. Attached the rest of the wiring, re-installed the hood mat.

Job completed.

Sweet!! I bought a set of these months ago with the same thought in mind. Just never had the time or get up and go to see if it would actually work? Thanks for showing the way. Guess I need to get off my butt and do it now.
