Thanks!

and in 2010-2011.....the ss 3800...the stang 3400...Need we say more!!!

Imagine the performance and gas consumption of a 5th gen Camaro weighing 3000!

The ZL1 needs to go on the biggest loser!

PS A CTSV having a 6.2 with 556 HP is too much power for a luxury car and sacrilege since the SS has "only" 400- 426HP (

How bout a 2014 fiberglass Z28 with T-Tops with a 7.0Liter (505HP) weighing and costing the same as a Vette ...lets compare apples with apples

I know Vette enthusuiasts would object but hell were all the same family!

Question Upgrades...

It didn't mention any upgrades...I'm just looking at the basic options mentioned and the weight difference.

+if there is no gas guzzler tax on it and the ZL1 might have it the difference would nix the addition of all the coolers added to the snake.

This is gonna be a fun future discussion thread.

Sorry fellow Camaro brothers, I have gone to the dark side and traded my puchased new 2010 Black 1SS for a new 2012 Mustang Shelby GT500 Cobra on Saturday. This news is too late and inconsequential to me, though still very interesting as a Camaro fan.

My move to the dark side has been very happy. I purchased the GT500 at $54.9 K, (with generous trade off Camaro) nicely equipped with nav/performace pac and could not be happier with marked improvement in drive-ability and twin cam fun, while having the SC already in-place over my last chevy.

How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

The price came almost exactly where I thought it would, at GS Vette Coupe MSRP. Sadly, I am sure dealers will try to screw guys left and right and have a ton or markup.

12 flat in the quarter is awesome.
A lot of the extra weight in modern cars compared to the older versions is mandatory air bags, etc. Some is luxury, like sound systems, insulation, power seats, etc.

A "rolling" start just means it is timed like you stage at the drag strip. Your car rolls a touch before tripping the timer, from a few inches to maybe a little over a foot. It is good for a couple of tenths faster ET. Why= because the first foot your car moves takes expoentially longer to move than other other foot it travels in the quarter mile.

But like I said in the previous post. For the people who have money, its no big deal spending $60K. Its the working man with a wife and kids, that's got a real hard job convincing the wife he's needs a $60K Camaro.

Well, I would bust on you, but I took my wife to test drive three SS convertibles. She hated it, and we MET in my 85 Z28.

She test drove a 5.0 GT/CS convertible and loved it. It's her car so she got it, but man would I have preferred a SS in the family.

The equivalent Mustang GT to Camaro SS appears to be about 5K less out the door. I would not have let this happen just a year or so ago, but Ford did a good enough job on the Coyote engine for me to tolerate it. That shamefull 4.6L 300HP V8 they had in their GTs until 2010 I could not have stood for.
