cruise control adjuster
So when I am driving along HWY 50 here in Southern Colorado, there are a couple of places where the speed drops by 10 miles and hour. Unless I have to (slower traffic or a light) I don't usually use the brakes. I just use the little button to increase/decrease the speed. So if the speed drops from 65 to 55 then I will just notch the speed down by 10 MPH using the steering wheel control. Does anyone else do this and are there any drawbacks other than the control wearing out sooner?

The only draw back would be if a cop was setting a speed trap and by adjusting the speed lower by the CC button it might not drop fast enough if you were adjusting it right at the lower speed limit sign. Other than that you can press the CC cancel button and when the speed lowers to the desired speed you just set it again.

I do the same thing OP does as I approach I vehicle, if I'm hemmed in by traffic and can't pass. Or I disengage the CC using the "cancel" button as mentioned above. Nice having everything on the steering wheel.

I usually hold the set button in until it slows to within a couple MPH of the speed limit as soon as I see the sign or if there is a reduce speed ahead sign I do it then.

Use it the same way. That is the button's purpose.

Every time you mash the + or - button and release it equates to one mph....at 55...mash and release the + button 10 times...you'll be doing 65.... Vice versa... Mash and release the - button from 55 mph..10 times you'll be doing 45

I wouldnt worry about it wearing out, it only takes a gental few taps to drop the set speed down.

When I'm up on the highway and sitting comfortably, it's all steering wheel controls for radio and speed.

I have done this since I've had my SS in June 2009. I use CC more than anyone else I have ever seen. I even use it in 25MPH zones so I am sure not to speed. Everything still works as new so doubt if you will wear anything out.

You should be able to hold the + or - down until you reach your desired speed, then release as well.
