as much as i like my fords.....i had a chance to jump into a nearly perfect low mileage z06 black/black 6 speed manual.....for less than $10k. i hesitated.....and it was gone that fast. every so often, i still kick myself in the ass for that mistake.

correct. and his 14.17 was BONE STOCK, which i stated originally. it is also a convertible, weighing more than the coupe, by juuust enough to be what was keeping him out of the 13's./

Folks bought a 2013 gt 5.0 6 speed.... Yikes !I have a 2012 2ss, I love the top end. Just ordered a gotta have it green with a track pack. The folks traded their 2012 Camaro v6 for a 2013 5.0 6speed .Got it last week and took it for a drive. I tell you what, I thought I knew what quick was until I drove the new 5.0. The Camaro isn't slow by no means but it's not a new 5.0. The Camaro when it's in the power band is a beast. The mustang however is always in the power band and coming off the shift feels a lot stronger and paired with a streight axle, it makes the drive in general, a lot more fun.

I think it's the gearing that makes it feel faster. I think the way the LS3 pulls down low makes an SS feel much faster than my 5.0.

It feels faster because it is, I like my 2012 Camaro ss, but i love this 2013 mustang. Car and driver got 13.2 out of the SS, 2013 gt 12.6... That's why it feels faster, it would be different if the 13 Camaro brought more than an LCD screen to the strip this year. Take one out for a test drive, major difference especially between the 2011 and 13 mustang 5.0

Sorry man, but an SS and the 5.0 are gonna be a driver's race. You can't compare times from different cars, done on different days, by different drivers, at different tracks. There are just as many car mags that show the SS being faster than the 5.0 as there are showing the 5.0 being faster than the SS. And there is no noticeable difference in power between the 2011/12 GTs and the 2013. They got rid of the oil cooling jets and went to different pistons, and that is exactly where the extra 8 hp comes from. Nothing else is different. I've driver a 2013 Track Pack, felt just like my car when it was stock power wise. I do like the track apps though.

Deki, you and I are going to have to disagree, if you don't feel a difference between 373 and 355 gears, we will be arguing all day. Since when is a 13 second car and a 12 second car a drivers race? Even with a minor increase of 10 hp, and steeper gears any driver should feel a difference. C&D is unbiased, I'll go with what they say not a chevy magazine that says the ss is faster. C&d say the mustang is faster, I believe them.
