Can someone tell what this is?

So while i was washing my car I noticed this thing near the trunk release lever. Don't know how I never noticed it before. Anyone know what it is? Sorry for the bad pics.

I thought it was maybe one of those new insurance gizmos that track braking and acceleration and speed. The car did have one previous owner before me. I'm not sure what it is or what it's wired to so I don't know how to go about taking it off.

I don't think it would be a good idea to remove that.

I had something similar on mine when I bought my car (i removed it myself), its some security device from your dealer.. so next time your at your dealer, just ask them if they could remove it.
