Maje sure that you overlap the tape on the edge of the stripe about a quarter-inch.

Road Rash

Enjoy Your Youtube videos and am glad to see you on this forum. Can you give any advice on road rash, those nasty little whitespots (chips?) Can they be corrected with a PC or at least hide them a little especially on a black car?

Alright mr junkman... I can not get the buff pattern from the 105 off the car without scrubbing hard with a towel...which defeats the purpose of everything lol. Any suggestions? Also would you suggest doing the whole car with 105 then 205? I dd this so Ive done the hood with 105 and door. Now I will drive until I can do more tomorrow. Should I have done just the hood with 105 then 205? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks!

If you are working M105 until its almost impossible to remove you are working it too long. Shorten your work time and make sure you are only working a small area at a time(maybe 24"x24".) M105 isn't known for a extended work time. Since the introduction of M105 a few years ago Meguiars has brought out M100 with a little better cut and longer working time. HD Uno by 3D is also another good compound competing against M105 in todays market. In the last year or so lot of companies have stepped up their game to gain market share and the industry as a whole has benefited.

A PC or any da will not correct pait chips. When choosing a sealant look for one that dries clear and dosen't haze white. To clear the old compound out of these chips before applying sealant you can steam or even use a ipa on a q-tip or mf towel.

I agree with Good Times. M105 can be a bear. If it dries up too much I have sprayed the pad with the detail spray and worked it a bit to soften it up. Takes a bit of time to get used to but I have learned to work smaller areas just like stated.

I assume you are using a high quality towel to wipe it down. I haven't rescratched my area when wiping down using my assortment of good towels.

Mine is just about done with the M105. Probably a few areas to work and then I am going to glaze it again. Then I purchased Jet 109 sealer from Chemical Guys to try along with the buttery wax.

I've got the m105 worked out. I was finishing and then moving on to the next spot without washing the 105 off. Was just going to wash it all off when I was done.

Always wipe off compound as you go checking each area before going to the next. Adjust your work area to come up wth a good working time. Always work clean. Cleaning your pad often is a must. For comfort keep your working area no wider then your shoulders. You will not get as tired as quickly. Work smart not hard. lol.

You shouldn't be using any pressure when taking the excess compound off with the towel. I would go back and watch his video of using the M105 again and watch his technique. I've done and it works perfectly, after I'm done with the 105 there are no swirl marks from the pad on the clearcoat after I've wiped the slightly flashed compound off with waffle weave microfiber towel, only faint scratches that might need another hit with the 105 or then finishing it with the 205.

You mean the Zaino Borderless Blond or other soft microfiber towel. The waffle weave towel is for LIQUIDS only.
