Pacesetter LT headers
I've been in contact with pacesetter regarding their headers for our v6 LLT and I must say that their customer service is top notch but most importantly no dyno to show what type of gains to expect with their "very affordable" LT headers, at least they said "not yet". Anyway, they was very kind to send me some installed photo so I just wanted to share with you guys officially the cheapest headers for our LLT as of right now. The pics will show the high flow catted and off road version.
The lowest I found so far are $220 shipped just for the high temp painted long tube, $214 shipped for the shorties, $378 shipped for ceramic long tube, $479 shipped for high temp LT painted with high flow cats, and $343 shipped for high temp LT painted with off road pipes. Now thats what you call cheap and only if there was some dyno numbers for them... |

yeah, i'm pretty shocked that no one has put these on their car and dyno'd them yet. Wonder what the diameter is.

Its 1 5/8 diameter with 3" collector. I am seriously leaning towards this not just because of the cheap price but I remember pacesetter from back in the days even when I was driving and modding VW's. a company that's been around that long can't be that bad right? Only if I can just see some dyno I would jump all over this in a heartbeat.

I'm sure the power gain is there. Price is good too but I did notice that the price jumps from 220 shipped for just the painted long tubes to 479 for the same but with the high flow cats. The Ceramic are 378 so if my math is correct that would put ceramic coated with high flows right at $637. That is cheaper than BBK but I still think that BBK offers theirs at a nice price as well. (BBK ceramics MSRP for 799, but I've heard of members here getting them for closer to 700).
That said, your right when you say that if the company would simply get a good dyno sheet out there they would have had more sales already. I've said several times before, but in today's age there is no reason why an exhaust company should not have either a sound clip or dyno sheet (or both) at the ready for customers on their website or via email.

I can't tell just from the parts and the pictures, is there any cutting involved in removing the stock manifold/cats?
Is there any welding required for install of these headers? |

No cutting/welding involved. I don't know if they include the O2 extensions the BBK's did.

just to give you guys heads up, if u do a search for pacesetter there's plenty of info than I thought, it look like the v8 guys already had a good comparison and dyno with the pacesetter. The reason why they are so cheap is because they are made out of mild steel and is mig welded. Some say that it will rust but not rust through and some say that they never had one single problems with it. The gain look similar to other headers with full cat back, ex. ARH. Like the above said if you are going ceramic coated than its not too far off from BBK, but way cheaper compared to ARH.
Eitherway they are a very cheap way to add some long tube headers to your v6 but I guess you will have to take a chance with rusting unless you can have them jetcoated somewhere or some type of DIY. I remember alot of us on nasioc with our WRX did similar DIY high temp coating and rust proofing to a cheaply priced HKS widemouth turbo downpipe. It remind me of the mild steel pacesetter. |
