Rear diff aluminum twist?

I know that our rear diffs are made out of aluminum to minimize weight. How ever, I have seen a lot of camaro's at the track rip out the ring and pinion utilizing slicks. I read somewhere on here that wheel hop is the #1 cause for destroying gears. I'm a bit worried about mine as I'm running richmond 4.11s.

What is it that some of you are doing to beef up the rear end?

Jannetty's Billet Main Caps are definitely a good investment, but should have probably been installed when the gears were put in, it's a lot of work/money to go back into the differential again! The LPW Differential Cover has the tensioner bolts that help reduce any torsional movement or flex in the main caps. Perhaps the best thing to do is get the necessary suspension upgrades to eliminate the wheel hop in the first place. Subframe Bushings, Trailing Arms, Toe Rods, Sway Bar, etc.

If you are making over 550 rwhp and 550 lbs tq..i would suggest going with a 9 in. i shredded my stock rear, with dss 1400 hp axles, and all the susp mods....and I never ever tracked !...wth I barely even spin my tries. Peace of mind has no price

I ripped out my R&P it destroyed the bearings too... its back in the shop after a couple hard-ish street launches.. No track resin no nothin' just a couple street dump and rolls and its never had wheel hop since i upgraded the suspension. Richmond = total garbage.. they used to be awesome. :SMH:

For the OP, I'm at over 650+ rwhp and I have Richmond 4.11s installed. I also installed the Billet Main Caps and all the suspension mods. I have had no issues after several thousand miles of hard driving.

In my humble opinion, I believe the quality of the install is much more of an issue than the gear set. The Richmond 4.10s had issues but the 4.11s have a much stronger design.

Correct, the OEM diff case is prone to flex. There is only so much you can do to beef up the stock rear, Jannetty can do his mods that will considerably strengthen it but when you get over 550rwhp then one should really start considering one of our fabricated 9" rears.
Our heavy duty fabricated housings don't flex under severe loads and we use the Strange 35 spline S-Trac that was tested by Strange in an 8 second car before being released.

Give us a call if we can help.

Thanks
Chris
