2012 Camaro ZL 1 VS CTS V coupe
What u think? I must say I'm impressed with the ZL 1 although to me so far it seems like a 21 years old's version of the CTS V Coupe. I personally think the ZL 1 would take this one what u guys think?

I am gonna say the ZL1 might have an edge in all around performance, but who knows at this point. I just hope they smoke the GT500

I got to say the CTS V coupe looks amazing in person much better than in video's or pictures, I cant wait to see the Z28 in person. But I think the ZL1 will take the trophy

I think the camaro zl1 will be faster then the coupe, but not as fast as the sedan, if i'm not mistaken the coupe is a couple tenths slower then the sedan. I'm not sure it will handle or be the all out performer that the sedan is however.
In regards to the gt500, they are probably gonna be even. With the next model year the gt500 will come out with better tires/wheels stock to try to get the edge...they will both be close in weight and have around 550 hp. |

I'm not concerned about the cts-v really, the camaro would probably be a tad faster or equally as fast. On the other side the mustang gt 500 is the one to beat, i wold think that the camaro would be faster and may handle better, but the mustang has alot going for it, it has decent handling and and a solid forged motor, upgrade to a whipple 2.9 supercharger with warranty and ford tuning, the car can achieve some ridicules hp potential, the only thing that zl1 has going for itself is the magnetic suspension, it may help to get all that power to the ground, but i would prefer having the goodies the gt 500 has to offer.

http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...s-v-coupe.html http://www.luxist.com/2010/04/12/rev...-super-sedans/ While some posts have both being closer, the sedan is the better performer (on average, so far). |

Too little known about the ZL1s final specs IMHO. As a guess I would say the ZLI may be slightly lighter and little quicker on it's feat and a few grand cheaper than the V. On the other hand you would be giving up a lot of lux in the ZL1.

I really don't think GM would put so much work into this ZL1 and openly let you know they've been testing it against the current GT500 and then release the car only to have it "go equal" . I think GM is going to do to the GT500 what the 5.0 did to the SS. One upsmanship. The ZL1 will be a faster car than the GT500 but it won't embarrass it too bad. It'll just prove to have better numbers, traction, and handling. Then next year Ford will respond and back and forth back and forth.
I mean think about it,....would you release your response car to the GT500 just so you can be "on par" or it's equal?! No, as GM has said,.....they don't play for seconds, they play to win! The ZL1 is going to outperform the GT500 for it's release year,....who knows what next year will bring.

I think you guys are forgeting the R&D put into the ZL1. its not simply a SS with a LSA, and MRS. The entier drivetrain has been beefied up, and the car has been put through windtunnel testing in regards to the aero force done on it. not to mention all the engine and suspension cooling. all these factors will make the ZL1 a freight train on the road course, without having to worry about overheating motor(heat soak), or suspension problems. the addition downforce will keep this monster planted at all times. I can also seeing this car weight lighter than the cts-v sedan. also the tires are wider on the ZL1 than on the V. Also they seem to be using these tires over the PS2. These f1 supercar tires are on all the vettes in 2011 minus the zr1 which must mean something.
In regard to the GT500 unless ford plans on putting the boss 302 suspension in the gt500 and relize bigger rear tires are needed, the ZL1 will not walk away but runaway in the competition. Ford isnt dumb tho i bet they have been anticipating this car and are ready to respond come 2012. Should be interesting for us consumers.

ZL1 faster than CTS V?
considering they have the same engine will the ZL be faster? I would think it would be lighter than the CTS..Cadillace says 0-60 for the cts v is 3.9 seconds... will the ZL1 beat that?
