Header Gasket Question
Quick Question:
I never re-torqued my headers after I installed them a year back. I'm thinking about just re-torquing them to 18 ft/lb. ( I lost the JBA instructions but everyone here seems to say thats correct force) Here's the questions: Will re-torquing them mess up the gasket? Along with the RTV silicone that holds it together? Thanks Rico |

Re-torquing imo shouldn't mess it up, however be careful not to break the bolt off as one member did doing this.

yes, 18 ft. lbs. is correct.
yes, this should be done to make sure everything is tight. no, it will not mess with your gaskets, or RTV.

When i retorqued my bolts after a 100 miles or so many of them didn't need to be re-tightened, think only 2 did....but it is better to be safe than sorry.
