What year did Chevrolet offer a true 4 door hardtop- Sans the "B" pillar.

I'm going to say '55. By the way the Powerglide was a 2-speed automatic. I had a '68 Chevelle that would go into 2nd gear at around 60mph.

Ok, some of the things to distinguish model years in the late 60s has been mentioned such as vent windows going away and side markers.

Something changed in car styling as a whole around '65. The '65 Impala is a good example of this change. What was it?

A switch from X frames to full perimeter...
allowing for smoother ride and better styling....
