Strange starting issue...
Yesterday was pretty nice here, so I decided to take the car out for a drive. 605 on the odometer, parked semi-level in the garage in neutral with the brake engaged. Started the car, and with the clutch fully depressed could not put the trans in any gear - including reverse! Pushed in the clutch and rolled forward a little, same results. Shut off the engine, and then was able to go through the gears. Started again, but in gear, and everything seemed fine. Took a drive with no issues, parked again but left the car in gear. Anyone ever have something like this happen? Definitely unsettling.....

Sorry to hear about that starting concern. Since you're simply seeking thoughts and opinions (and a few responses may be offered), you're still free to message us if you want to take it a step further and get an official diagnosis. I'll reach out to the dealer's customer care specialist for additional assistance with resolving this at the dealer level. William R. Chevrolet Customer Care |

I had this happen to me at a car show and cruise. I had 1800 miles on her and we cruised around and then I parked my car and went to start it and went to put her in first and had no gears at all. The car was in neutral at the time of the startup. I shut the car off. I wasn't able to go through the gears even when the car was off. Had to get the car towed. The dealer I bought it from didn't put any fluid in the clutch master cylinder. So basically I had been shifting without any help and I burned the cylinder up. So maybe it's your clutch master cylinder is bad or there is a lack of fluid.

According to the owner's manual the car uses a common reservoir for both brakes and clutch. I will check fluid level, however the manual also states:
When the brake/clutch fluid falls to a low level, the brake warning light comes on. No light, so we will see. Brandon, do you recall seeing the warning light, as your system was dry? |

My light was never on. The reason that my light never came on was because there was enough to in there to keep it off, but the cylinder never worked properly so it basically never used a drop of the fluid. That's why after a series of burnouts my clutch was on fire and I had no gears. When they took mine apart, the clutch part was dry as could be, the brakes were okay. There was fluid, just the cylinder didn't work, so it was like basically burning out the clutch.
