I have a 2012 Convertible... Can it handle the car wash on a weekly basis?

There is a car wash near my house (mister car wash if anyone has heard of it) and I was wondering if it would be bad for my top to go through the car wash on a weekly basis. It's a normal car wash but wax pours down at the end as well. I really appreciate all of your guys help!

see the detailing section here - car washes are a bad deal in general - a touchless in the winter is the closest you should ever go to a car wash - unless you want paint like this in about 3 years:

I've only hand washed mine. I would think it would damage/ fade the top after a while.

Any high quality car wash is perfectly fine. Especially touchless.

These paint jobs are fragile. Hand wash only. Especially in a vert.

Hey! my car has those! ..... and here I was thinking they were cool!
those never bothered me, I grew up seeing those on most cars, I just thought it was the way it was supposed to be.
Oh well, I have found out that in order to actually see those swirl marks on my car is to just wipe off the dirt and then you can see them.......

My car will never see a car wash, nor has it seen rain or snow which also helps.

Yes, you can properly hand wash it as much as you want. What is a car wash, rain?

Clearly taking her to a car wash is a mistake. Looks like I will be doing it by hand. Thank you for all of your help guys!

Sure hand wash is best for any car, like everyone is telling you. But I've never hand washed my vert, and I have 28,000 miles on it. I can't see anything wrong with my paint or top. So to answer your question, a car wash won't hurt a vert any more than it will hurt any other car.

I wash my vert in a touch less car wash up to three times in a day !!!!
No problems with top or paint. When I get off a road trip with bugs straight to wash.
For six month season at least 90 times at 10.00. Before car shows and then after because
Of dust. Had lots of compliments how the paint looks. The top looks great except for two
Rub marks. Eventually new top before extended warranty is over (2019). It is documented
with dealer about top also.

Go and wash it.

You can't generalize "CAR WASH - YES OR NO"

because they are all different. yes, some of you will have no problems, some will look like crap after a year of washes. It all depends on how they run them.

The biggest thing that scratches cars is the kind where they run thru and there are 3 guys standing at the end with towels that look clean - they are not...they maybe white and washed, but they are holding all sorts of abrasives in the fiber that get you the scratches like the pic I put above.

the second thing is the wash itself - do they recycle their water? - or use detergents that are not a neutral PH? Those too will abrade paint.

So Google car washes and learn...Touchless is best but some very high pressure systems can blast dirt into your paint too.

It all depends on how you want to take care of your car.....but you can't say either "yes or no"....

I do a rinseless wash in 15-20 min, my car has never seen a hose or car wash and paint is like glass

see the detailing section for that type of wash or PM me for some links......
