My Dyno Run Today 2012 LFX

First off my first time getting any vehicle dyno'd so it was a cool experience. Secondly I have some issues with GM now. These numbers are still circumstantial as my governor/ speed limiter kicked in at 119 6.5K RPMs . Most I ever did on the street was 115 so a tune is definitely in order now.

Secondly my Air to Fuel Ratio was reading almost 15:1 Im guessing its like this factory for gas mileage purposes . But to my understanding to Lean or to Rich of a mixture causes poor engine performance. Im no expert thats why Im here to learn. Anyway here are the numbers

I couldnt get a full reading because the car wouldnt go to 7k rpm so I dont know how valid this is. But at 6.5k rpms I'm at roughly 255rwhp. So factor in the limiter and A/F ratio being so lean (back that down to 11 or 12:1) could that bump me up about 15 hp?

What do yall think of these numbers?

Thanks again BmoreCam Mo and his crew are awesome

Oh ya...the limiter is set to 118 on cars without the pirelli tires for safety reasons, since the tires on the non-RS and non-SS cars aren't rated for higher speeds.

Ahhhhh That makes sense I should have gotten the 2Lt then if I would have known I planned on getting a tune later down the road but I gotta bump that up on the list.

Being NA you want to be around 12.8.1 - 13.0.1 going WOT, good numbers though running that lean WOT, I would get that tune checked

That's the second dyno run we've seen where the run is extremely lean.

About the speed limiter, I wouldn't do the tune just for that. I'm an LS too and I haven't gone over the 118 except for twice at my friends ranch that has a massive straight away. I just wanted the limiter off cuz im OCD like that lol. But the tune is totally worth it if your an automatic. If your a manual, I would wait until you at least get headers

Its Automatic and that A/F ratio had me a bit worried but Im guessing it came off the assembly line like that on purpose.

Just remember that you have LFX so in actuallity you should be making more. 255 is LLT stock auto number. I don't know if mo told you but their 248x read a little lower as you can see from today's dyno. Try to STD and SAE your run from uncorrected file and see what you come out with.

You got the most important part out the way so you should be good with your future mods

Wow, actually I'd be very pleased with those numbers if I were you. Seems almost spot on.

I believe the automatic has at least a 20% drivetrain loss from the countless dynos I've pondered over the past few years. With your stock rated numbers, that comes to 258rwhp and 222rwtq, which is almost exactly what you ended up with.

What was the temps today?

Jay, so is this the dyno you've been using so far? Didn't some of your earlier dynos turn out as low or lower than this number? (which I'm not sure how that could have happened lol). Maybe this dyno isn't quite as low reading as we think??? Very interesting for sure.

Hopefully you can get on that other dyno you've mentioned sometime soon and see whats up. Man, I feel bad for asking you to do all of this dyno time! lol Gotta be costly.

Yea I will be hitting up T&T with him to get my tune work done by Tim. I was lookin at maybe 260-265 if I rich up the afr. What all gets changed from a trifecta tune? Timin, fuel mixture , speed limiter?

I think they ran those pulls in 4th but i think they did one in 3rd too.

oh edit: The Temp today was 70-72 at around 5-530pm when we did the pulls

coop,

who actually did the pulls in your car bro..??

I just checked out the run files and the gearing show 57-88. It look like they pulled in 2nd and 3rd gear probably trying to figure out what was going on with the rev limiter. Run 5, 4, and 1 was done in gearing ratio of 87 and the rest in 57.

Preng, our dyno definitely read low. There's no doubt about that. His highest torque is 216, and his highest hp is 249. LFX on a correct reading dyno should have pulled around 260 with ASE correction. When comparing dyno numbers you have to read it with the same correction factor as others, in this case it would be ASE correction since most other peoples stock dyno numbers seem to have SAE correction factors. The first line is my very first dyno there on the same exact dyno around the same time too when I had the obx long tube and tune only.

Coop, we definitely have to go see tim. Let me know when you trying to do that. I'm trying to go within the next 2-3 weeks.
