LSA already supercharged. And probably has a beefier bottom end because of it.

please please please beg him to build it with a LS7 with no blower! The LS7 can easily make 660hp at the crank as lingenfelter has proved, then a supercharger from all the aftermarket companies like Hennessey and lingenfelter will make it to kill z06's and maybe zr1's

the LSA has more potential. the LS7's cylinder walls are too thin for some serious boosting. so it's limited on nitrous and boost. where as the lsa has thicker walls and can handle more boost.

mainly the cylinder walls that I read about. the crank is pretty strong in the ls7 still.

refer above. for modability pray for the lsa. the LS7 is a great engine just not one that's as friendly to the aftermarket as the lsa.

On youtube if you search up chucks97ss in the search look at the Z06 it is taking 200 of nitrous, some forged internals and I think that engine will be fine.

For how long?... GM decided the thicker walls of the 6.2 were what was needed to get to the powerlevel and poweradder they wanted. I think that's saying something.

Everyone discussing the LS7 seems to be forgetting that it isn't slated for eternal production. I found an interesting story at Leftlane News for everyone to consider.

Well Im hoping if the do produce the Z28 it has atleast 550HP to match GT500
Why make another 6.2 supercharged engine. Just stick with LSA and LS9 unless LS8 will replace LS3 for bottom of line V8 and LSA goes into Z28's and Z06s

Eh... I don't know. That article has comments on it dated October of 2007. Things have probably changed since then.

What makes you think the 2012 GT500 will only have 550hp?

Well I cant see the future so I have to go by what it has now.
though the rumors are of a twin turbo 600HP 5.0L (which wont be happening)
now that would be sweet.. big fan or turbos..

either way whatever gt500 has i think the Z28 should match.. need fair battle.. evens cars and leave it to a drivers race.. more exciting

I agree completely. Drivers have a way of making cars that have no business performing the same do just that.

Of course, none of us can see the future, but it's always hard to hit a moving target. I imagine GM has a number in mind for the Z28 and is engineering everything to meet that goal. We can only hope they are not targeting the 2011 GT500, however, as I'm sure Ford is well aware that the Z28 is coming and is not likely to simply roll over and let the Z28 take the top spot in the ponycar segment without a fight.

We shall see and, as consumers, we will all be the better for it.

If this war keeps up the Mustang GT and SS will both probably be at 600HP in 10yrs..
either that or they both cut weight

I was talking to our Camaro club President who is a manager at a chevy dealership and he said that they were told that the Z28 will have non other than the LS9, do to the fact that GM has a contract with the engine builders of the LS9 to build x amount motors. The problem is the dealerships are not saling the ZR1,so they have a large stock of the LS9s with no car to put them in. So thats what they will put in the Z28. He also said it would be detuned, But did not specify hp. It will be offered in 2012. They don't want to hurt the convertible.
