Lots of folks love their Vararam intakes & they give good HP gains but I too am not fond of how they look especialy on the V6's. My Husband has a Vararam on his V8 & loves it. I prefer the look of my CAI inc & it has good gains in HP. I don't think he was bashing, he just said he did not like how they look. To each his/her own.

I'd go with the Injen Long Tube CAI. Decent amount of gain in power and its looks good.
Here is a pic http://puu.sh/4Fpqn .
Don't wanna embed because pic is pretty big.

Rather than pop in here like a used car salesman, below is a link to a tech article I posted on air intake systems. It goes over the pros and cons of the different types of intakes available for these cars. After reading it you should understand them well enough to make your own decision about what is best for your application. If you have any questions afterwards feel free to hit me up.

As far as I know JDP doesn't make their own CAI so it isn't bashing their competitors. Also are vendors not allowed to have opinions?

OP I would suggest either Roto-fab of CAI...with Roto-fab you can customize a lot of things like the air box and even the tubing. I would also suggest that if you do choose CAI or Roto-fab that you get the scoop and washer bottle relocator.

My post was not intended to "bash" the Vararam unit, but simply to state my opinion and give others information to consider when choosing a CAI. The Vararam may perform well and I never stated otherwise, but the empty space the most common complaint I hear about the Vararam and most people don't really think about it until it's installed. Giving my opinion is to inform others and let them take that thought into consideration before making the purchase; just like everyone else here is doing.

Just FYI, Message JDP with what you want to do, and you'll get a straight answer, and a good deal.

I got my MRTv2 from them, and my resonated X-pipe that's not installed yet.

Your foot and driving habits will determine this much more than the CAI. There are lots of factors that effect fuel economy, and how you drive is the biggest. We have had reports as high as 4 mpg increases with our CAI, but around 2-3 mpg is more common. With our CAI you will see a 16 rwhp gain over stock. We are also located in Michigan, and would be happy to answer any questions that you may have, just email, pm, or call us.
