No, they're 2 1/2". The ARHs taper down from 3" to 2 1/2" right before mounting to the axle-backs.

Not really. It's sooo much richer in person. A camera/vid just can't capture the bandwidth it has live. Oh, and if you're getting it w/out cats, be prepared! This thing is a caged beast w/ cats. I can only imagine what it will be like when it can truly breath with a Vararam under the hood.

Is it loud to the point that you have to talk louder when in the car?

^^that's what I'd like to know. It sounds great on the exterior. I'd like to keep the interior as quiet as possible and minimize any droning.

It's an LS3, and it's actually quite mellow when cruising and/or staying in the lower RPM range. It does have a tad bit of drone when passing 17-1800 RPM, but it's fairly minimum and usually lasts only a second or two.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't spend much time in the lower RPM range when I'm driving this thing, especially with a stick. I can't speak for the L99, but mine works out just fine...very managable.
Lastly, at cruising speeds on the highway, the rumble of the Borlas are hardly noticable. The biggest difference on this set up is when you get on it quickly...it comes to life and screams at you when running the RPMs up quickly, which I don't tend to do when I have my wife in the car even with the OEM exhaust.
