Need tip from long distance drivers!
Hi, Im out on a bit of an adventure with my car right now. Ive spent the last few days driving from North Dakota, through the Black Hills and down Wyoming into Colorado. Drove through a very sketchy mountain pass today but made it to Flagstaff AZ now. Ill likely be in Las Vegas tomorrow, and heading up the California coast to Oregon the next day.
The problem is, after an hour or so on the road, my neck is killing me. Has anyone else had a problem with this and found a solution? I keep moving the seat up and down or around but to little avail! Thank you (I've got some pictures too, virtually all are while driving inside the car lol). I'm thinking I'd put together a time lapse video with all the good roads too |

Thanks Comrando, I'll give those a try. It's been a pretty incredible journey so far. So many amazing areas in just SD (Black Hills) and CO, I really didn't want to leave CO. The roads out West of FT Collins , the 34 ,160 etc were amazing and tons of fun to drive. I'll likely be going back in the summer of 2015 when I've got my good summer tires on as I was pushing the Blizzaks to their limit.
Ill get an image host and put the pictures I took up here! |

How far back do you lean your seat back? If it's leaned fairly far back then your neck can be at a bad angle and your neck muscles are having to work overtime to keep your head upright. I've got my seat back leaned back at about a 10-15% angle. I've driven 4 hours at a time (OKC to south Dallas) and I feel no discomfort at all.

I could understand that CapN! I'm going back to the boring side of North Dakota though so enjoying it while it lasts!
I had my seat more vertical to start off Trodecke, I've leaned it back a bit more though since I found it helped a little bit. I'll lean it forward when I have to do a bit more behind the wheel ie lots of turns and curves etc |

Move forward...WAY forward...bend your knees a lot.
Then telescope the steering wheel all the way towards you so you can lean back a bit without "reaching" for the wheel. Getting in and out of the car will be slightly more difficult for you but the increased comfort is well worth it. |

Try the neck pillow like Comrando said,
also, what is your diet and water intake like? Many people have terrible diets on road trips, this can really effect you, especially over long trips. Drink lots of water, this one simple tip can help alleviate quite a lot of issues.

I don't have any neck issues after driving long distances. I've already covered 12k miles in 3 months of having this new Camaro and it's way more comfortable in these Recaro's than in the stock SS seats.

Sounds like you might need to adjust your seat back. Drink more water. all my problems driving long distances were solved as soon as I started sleeping better.

I drive almost 200 miles every day to and from work. Moving the front of the seat all the way up and leaning the back of the seat a little more forward than usual, really helped my neck.
