Any run a Posi in their daily driver?
Any run a Posi in their daily driver?
Got 12bolt for my death wagon but keep putting it off, will be the 2nd winter come in gone here soon. I just like knowing the rearend isn't gonna walk around on me in the slick. I can drive like a loon and the worse I get is a little shimmy or wiggle back there but no walking around. [plus driving habbits make no difference in its crappy mileage, might as well enjoy it.] I can turn and get on it on a snow covered road and it goes where I want or expect no sudden rear end walk no matter how hard I get on it. I dunno maybe I worry to much but been in posi cars that drove in all condition, without really trying you could end up point the wrong way with just a light tap of the gas in the slick. Last car accident I was in was cause of one, girl who hit us had a posi, she tried to speed out and get in front of us, all she did was spin in a circle. Feeling I need to just sell it as its never gonna go in. Though it will fit lots of "muscle" cars but not many want or need the oddball 12bolt posi. Its the one that has a 10bolt cover, but is a 12bolt inside. |

I have in the past I ran Richmond gears 3.73's with a Eaton posi.
I also Ran 3.90's with a detroit locker which was a blast click click click goes the DL lol At times I wish this 5thgen had a solid rear axle i miss that feature. |

Nothing worse than a peg legged car. I'd take a limited-slip differential any day in any vehicle. Much more predictable, and fun!

If your blowing the rubber off one wheel...... But im talking a 300ton tank here, I got traction And you have to want to smoke the tire / it takes work. Its not gonna happen on accident. I can't see it helping the launch much unless I went to a higher stall. Running a 2200 stall now in a PAE built Th350, 3.08 1st, 5 clutch. Which is nice, on a WOT 1-2 shift I dam near get air under the left front as I got traction Id put the posi in my 3rd gen Firebird but it would be lots of fab being its a 4 point rear. |
