GMPP Exhaust Reviews

Just wanted some reviews on the GMPP exhaust. I am thinking about going for the higher sound, hoping it's not too loud. Did you go for the lower or higher sounding one? Thanks.

We just installed the offroad GMPP on a customer car....I find it better sounding than stock, and FAR from obnoxious sounding. This is what I'd roll!

Had another customer stop Saturday to look at it - he liked it too, and found it hard to believe it was the "off road" version. What he DID like, is you won't see those big pan mufflers that come on the car from the factory any more.

Again, Dave in our parts have them ready to ship out at a camaro5 discount.

I thought the jerry can mufflers would be taken out with axleback exhausts? Is that not the case?

That was a typo. He ment to say it gets rid of those big ulgy cans. The tips are also 4.5'' on the GMMP exhausts.
Pics of GMPP "off road" version.

Soooo then all the GMPP exhausts are axle-back and provide no power gains whatsoever?

They should make a few HP, especially on the L99 A6. The L99 A6 uses a different muffer than the LS3's. They looks the same on the outside but when you cut them open, they're very different.
The LS3 mufflers are a straight through design with some packing material. The L99 mufflers are all crazy looking on the inside with more packing material.

My GMPP "off road" axle back has a 100% staight through design. Its a straight shot in and out the other side. So it should be worth a few HP. Its also much lighter than the stock mufflers.

Hmm...so it's GMPP axle back for $900, or aftermarket cat-back for $1100--give or take.

You might call around and find it cheaper. I got mine (gmpartsdirect) for $724 total. I believe it was $661 before shipping and handling.
But the last I checked they had raised the price a bit.

Borla axle back can be had for 600 shipped And is basically the same, borla makes the gmpp setups too. GMPP stuff is usually just like aftermarket but marked up so you can call it GMPP.

From what I've seen and heard, (GMPP "off road") and (Borla -mufflered) are the pretty much the same. The only real difference is the tips. With the GMPP you get a different design and shape with the tips, plus the bowtie emblems on the tips.

They sound better than stock. That's for sure. I still didn't think they were very loud. Mufflers gone= best part. GMPP Exhaust+NOWEEDS!

I have the STREET version on the gmpp axle backs sitting in the box. It's ALMOST a straight thru path, VERY small curve in the can. Looks to like the only difference between off road and street is that the street has more packing. No crazy baffles or anything like that.

Well...I don't think I would spend 6-700 dollars just for sound is the thing. I may end up just staying stock and working on cosmetics first until I get around to feeling okay with an intake/full exhaust/tune.

So I guess I'll do the tint, painted stripes, and then perhaps look at suspension upgrades since those don't affect the drivetrain warranty.
