Out of state purchase, good transport company?

For those who bought a Camaro from out of state, did you use a transport company for delivery? My new order is going through a Michigan dealer, and they can't deliver to me in Kentucky. Has anyone used a good transportation company to have your car delivered to you from the dealer? My vehicle still hasn't been produced yet, so I can't give a firm shipping date.

I would ask the dealership as they probably have a relationship with a transport company that has delivered vehicles for them in the past. When you make arrangements with the transport company, tell them that you expect their driver to do a visual inspection of the vehicle before they take possession of it as you will be doing a visual inspection and will pin responsibility on them for any damage found. I had a vehicle shipped to my parents and they found minor damage on the vehicle. Unfortunately, they didn't bother to act on the damage.

These guys look like they transport the vehicle covered. https://reliablecarriers.com/ Oh and for reference, I think my parents' transport cost about $700 from Georgia to Texas.

I just did all the research for doing this possibly for myself. I checked Reliable, Plycar (Plycon), Intercity, and Roadrunner.

I was told to avoid Roadrunner at ALL costs. Their price reflected that.

Plycar came out to be the best for me, price-wise. Looking at their reviews and other people's experiences, they were who I was going to go with. The others were comparable in quality, but higher prices.

The sooner you can get all of the information for the car, like VIN and whatnot, the better I believe.

The dealership I was working with EXPLICITY refused to get involved in that, for liability purposes. It was 100% on me to research and coordinate that.

I think the dealership that we took delivery from gave us some suggestions, but also told us that they are not liable for the transport company names that they suggested. I think dealerships know that there is too much liability and no profit to be made with those logistics companies.

The dealership I am working with said the exact same thing. She told me they can't give any company a recommendation, but they had a Corvette shipped recently by Reliable, and they seemed to be good. I see their ads during the auctions on TV.

Run quotes on em all.

I'd definitely have gone w/ Plycar after I ran mine. Was probably a $1000 diff.

I bought a 2019 KIA Stinger GTS in Federation Orange out of state in January 2020. I had it shipped from TN to SC for around $500 on an open trailer. I can't remember the carrier but all I did was researched highest rated carriers via Google and then got quotes. Back in 2020 my rate was about a $1 per mile. I see you changed from Riverside Blue to Satin Steel.

Reliable Carriers/Transport. Not the cheapest, but there is a reason Barrett-Jackson uses them. They are hard to schedule at times due to demand, but it’s just my recommendation. In any event, you certainly should go with an enclosed trailer if you can afford it. Good luck!

If the season called for it, I'd suggest just flying to the city and driving the vehicle back. I'm sure a lot of people would say that driving a new vehicle for a long distance is not the best break-in procedure (as you're driving at a constant RPM for extended periods) but I like the idea of getting great seat time if the weather permitted.

Looks like it's going to be Plycar. I got a quote from Reliable, but I've tried to call them and it goes to voicemail, then I don't get a call back. I called Plycar and got an estimate from a live person on the phone immediately, and said they could pick it up as soon as it lands at the dealer. The Reliable estimate says that it can be a 2-7 week wait for a transport.

The dealer I bought from is about 80 miles from the factory, so I am hoping it will get there sooner. My dealer said he should have an ETA very soon.

It'll get there in no time, relative to a rail trip.
