Knock Knock....Whos there?

Well I just got done installing Holley LS Valve Covers, Spark Plug Wires, Fuel Rails and heater hose...

I started her up and there is was... a very loud TICKING sound that I have never heard before. She is not sounding very well either, seems like the ticking is making her run crappy..

Can Someone please help!! I have no idea why it would be ticking/knocking....

Thanks!!

i would start with the spark plug wires.. make sure they are on tight.. you might be hearing the arcing of the spark and a a result it may not be firing on all cylinders

I have no experience with those valve covers but are they shorter than stock. Maybe a rockers touching them ? Nothing else you did could really cause this.

Perhaps the valve covers are not a thick (or different type of material) allowing more noise from the valve train?

The valve covers wouldn't cause a clearance issue. Make sure those wires are on firmly! Second when you installed the rail make sure the injectors are in properly as well. I bet one of those two are your issue.

I would hope there isnt a clearance issue with these valve covers, I was about to put some on myself!

Not to insult your intelligence or anything OP, but you did swap out the rubber gasket to the new covers right?

EDIT: Nevermind, I can see the blue gasket in your other pics!

I'd start by double checking the plug wires and injectors though, thats really the only mods that can affect performance too? Hope you solve this bro.

Well Thanks to all and I WILL say the Vavle Cover are AWESOME!!

I still hear a tick.... I checked all my plug wires and ever took them all off and installed the factory ones but still the same..Do you really think the new value covers arent tall enough??

Here is what I am thinking... I have never had engine cover off while running car and the factory value covers had more junk on them...

So i am thinking maybe there has always been a little tick in her but I could just never hear it?? Is that possible? I did take it out and drive it and it still hauls A$$...

Is it just me or do the valve covers look photoshopped?? Especially from the sides. Also, are they supposed to have those dents?

If the valve covers are thinner then YES ABSOLUTELY the rockers will be hammering them and in turn can damage some of your valve train. From the front view where you can see the thick blue gasket they look thin to me bud. I'd take them off and check the underside. Just my .2

The holley valve covers do not have any clearance issues guys. Everyone and their brothers have put them on without issue. Myself included.
