Very true, roughly 12% difference from 3.45 to 3.91 so there should be a 12% difference in mileage. 1000 miles read on the odometer will roughly be 880 miles real time driving until the correction is made in the tune.

Please let us know when the 1LE factory tune/speedometer is approved for the SS.

Installed 1900.00 Supposed to be a beefier rear end. It did look bigger than my stock.

Like it so far but still breaking it in. Second now feels like it has all the power first had. No more coming out of a turn and hitting the gas and going slow. Traction control lights all over the place not even flooring it. After tonight the rear end would of had 6 heat cycles with two overnight. Also has close to 120 miles on the gears so this weekend should be able to romp on her.

It's identical to the stock SS rear, no difference in size, only gear ratio is different and not sure if they added the extra clutch to that differential. Every now and then the stock SS rear would just spin one tire due to the clutch pack being loose. People added 1 additional clutch to solve that problem.

Looks like time for you to give that rear some hell now

Believe me it is not my dealers fault all. If you go to a normal dealer they can only load programming GM gives them and that programming is kept in a database for each VIN. Since I want to keep my drivetrain warranty that is why I will wait for the Calc. That is why also I bought the entire rear end from the dealer for a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty to not be voided.

Basically the part we bought will be up coming upgrades from GM, if you remember the 1LE announcement they said that older SS's can be upgraded to 1LE. We got approval to get the part and keep they warranty but no one new that Tach did not have the Calc yet.

I just wanted to know what would be off and that is why I posted. I have since found gear calculators on the net so I know what I go at what speeds now. None of this was posted to pick on my dealer or GM so please do not spin it like that.

And as far as calling dealer BS, well the dealer does not even want a dime from me for the work or the rear end until the Calc comes out and is installed on my car. I call that a good dealer in my book.
I see your point now. So, your saying that the dealer has to enter the VIN to access the calibration files in the data base, and then can only access the cal files associated with that VIN? I was not aware of the vehicle calibrations being linked to the VIN like that. Good information, thanks.

No problem, this is why if something breaks in the drivetrain they have the dealer pull the ECM data, TCM data and BCM data to see if they where modified or flashed more times than the VIN's database say things should of been. That is how they can tell if a car has been tuned and warranty goes bye bye.

Download a speedometer for iPhone or andriod and you will see your real speed on your phone.

And am I the only one who laughed at your post header? "New rear end in but"

They are going to take on 125 miles for every 1000 the odometer says when we go in for the Calc. That will be added to extend my 36 month, 36K mile warranty. I will be way over 36K before during my 2nd year as my car is used for all my IT onsite trips.

Also my tach would still be the same right, so I know if I am redlining my engine?
How did you or the dealer find out about the calibration and warranty stuff? I want to do this upgrade as well but don't want a custom tune if I can help it.

The part and Calc should be out in 2-3 months. As soon as it is out I will let folks know. All the parts needed to make a SS a 1LE are going to be released for a normal SS. I am probably going to do sways and struts down the road.

So, did you also change out the axels and hubs or just have the diff installed? Trying to figure out is the SS axles can stay or do they need to be changed also.
