Issues with a particular Twin Fuel Pump Systems' "Rated" rwhp
Ok, I'm not going to release the name of the Company right now. I'm going to call them Monday morning and speak with the tech department to get answers, but here we go :
PCM of NC just finished tuning my car, here is the basics of the setup : PRC 255 heads 1 7/8'' LTs 2.5'' exhaust no cats ID850s "800rwhp capable" Twin ZL1 pump system from " " Procharger D1SC @ 9psi 669 rwhp/ 546 rwtq Kelly and Alvin at PCM informed me that when Alvin was tuning my car, he was seeing fuel pressure drop in the mid/low 40's when he was dialing in the tune, and had to dial the tune back to those final numbers I posted above. Needless to say, on the companies website, they adveriste their twin pump system good for 800 rwhp...I say again, 800rwhp. Other sites, I have seen that they rate it for 700rwhp. It was also confirmed on the phone by one of their techs, that they stood by their 700-800rwhp ratings. My tune was dialed back due to pressure drop, and obviously I made it no where close to 700. I'm not upset about the numbers, it's not always about dyno numbers, but if I paid 900$ for a fuel system that didn't meet the capabilities that the said company advertises, am I just supposed to take it for what it's worth? At this point I'm trying to figure out which direction/route to go. I know 1,000,000 people will post and tell me "Squash", already know that. But can I actually run a BAP setup with these pumps to increase the pump voltage and get a little more out of my setup. Also, in the colder months of Fall/Winter, I will have issues with my fuel setup, because the car will make more power with colder/denser air. So I'm definitely trying to figure things out now while it's still summer time. Does anyone have any advice? Alvin saved the datalogs from one of the pulls where my fuel pressure was dropping into the 40s, and I plan to make sure the said Company sees that log so it's not "their word vs. mine". I'm hoping for some sort of compensation, and if I feel like I'm just going to get a "sh*t happens" type of reply, then I will post in the vendor section, and make sure this company is known.

I've seen a pressure drop numerous times with twin pumps while still ussing the single feed line system.
Anything 700rwhp or more gets a return line added. Had good luck making 800rwhp with this setup with no pressure drop on 2 pumps. |

What's a twin ZL1 pump? The ZL1 is a single pump. Are you running a CTS-V based dual pump then?

I have the twin setup in mine at 800rwhp with no issues .I had Alvin tune my car once and had an issue like yours and found a cracked bucket.Replaced and all was good.

Which twin pump setup do you have? There's more than one company that makes a Twin pump system, and not all are created equal, that's for sure.

Well the bucket definitely wasn't cracked when I looked at the system, and when it was installed it wasn't cracked either. And there is another member on here that is at 650 rwhp with the same system and has the same pressure drop issues I am experiencing.

if he is running twin ctsv pumps on the stock returnless system, i am not all surprised if he is seeing "some" pressure drop at a 700+ hp level.

I'm running the ADM twin pumps and I'm at 740rwhp. I didn't get to watch it on the dyno when Andy tuned it but I'm sure if there was a fuel pressure issue he would have told me.

Here we are 4 years later and we are starting to see fuel pumps go soft if you will. 94guy had the ADM version of the LPE system for 3 years then all of a sudden one day I noticed the fuel pressure dropping in one of his logs and he noted a loss in MPH. Changed out the pumps and all is well and the MPH is back even better. I think this is simply a case of a weak pump. Ted.
