Richmond 4.10 install Q

I would have a shop do the install for me. The question is, do I need to buy the full installation kit along with the gears, or would a shop be able to do it without the kit?
Thanks

You will need an install kit...
Whether your shop feels they need the full kit or the half kit is up to them.

Thanks guys! Any idea what a shop would charge for labor on this job?

If you are just dropping off the car and having them do it, you would be looking around $500, but dont forget you also need to have it tuned to get the correct readings on the speedo etc... and to take full advantage of the gear change.

So on an M6, I'd need a tune after this mod, or would I be ok with just the Hypertech calibrator ?
I guess 4.10's would probably void my powertrain warranty anyway, right?

My shop did mine for 550. No install kit needed. They had to use a couple .010. Shims that were lying around the shop and a new crush sleve from gm. Runs perfect with no noise at any rpm on accel or decell. That's 509 for the gears and 550 =1059. Best 1000 bucks I've spent so far. What a difference

you dont need the whole install kit. It is a wasted 259.00 bucks.. You should not need any of the bearings. Just a few shims and a crush sleeve at most. My contact pattern and back lash were almost perfect with no shims at all. WE tweaked it a little with a couple .01 shims on the carrier to get everything perfect.

My car is highly tuned via HP tuners already so we just went in and changed it in the program. I do still need to test it with my gps though. Most of your handheld tuners will also do it.
