Typical GM parts bin steering wheel. That steering wheel is exactly the same one that is on my wife's 11 Equinox. Glad I got my 10 Camaro. At least that steering wheel says Camaro and is specific to the car

Impala isn't a "sub $20k econo-shit-box."
Just a plus $20k can't-compete-full-size-shit-box. You should have seen the guy at C5fest today on the autocross course he got close to flipping his car with a new definition of body roll. Seriously save the granny wheel for the Impala.

I like the look on the new steering wheel! Come on, some changes isn't a bad thing right?

No it isn't, but the wheel can be changed and made better without having to resort to copying every other wheel in the Chevy lineup.

Yea, make you think what else Chevy will copy into the new 2012 Camaro?

I never had an issue with the look and feel of the 2010-2011 wheel. The new wheel is fine too but I wish GM used "Camaro" in the center instead of the Chevy bowtie.

Wow if you have a car why complain about a car your not going to buy? Seriously It makes me mad that you guys are going to complain about everything. Just be happy with what you got. I'm going to buy a new Camaro, and you know what I'm going to do. I'll find a way to get it to say Camaro on it. Stop acting like a bunch of Pre-teen girls and get over it.

I'm sure there will be mods to say Camaro on the center of the steering wheel! Why worry, enjoy the car! Life too short to whine about little things like this!

Or the other way around, seen the tail lights on the 2013 Malibu? When did it become a rule that every car in the lineup had to have "brand" engineering? Seems like fresh ideas and fresh styling cues are a thing of the past, but hey isn't that why the Camaro exists at all right now?

And just like with the C6 Corvette, those who dont know enough simply dont notice it. However those who DO know enough to see it, are driving something else. If I am buying a $40k+ sports car, it damn well better have a different steering wheel (the part you touch the most) than the sub-$20k econo-shit-box Cruze/Aveo/Volt/etc....

I'm not saying its a bad wheel. I'm simply saying its just not good enough for the Camaro!

Where do I start............

"....So then address the concerns, and design a new wheel....."

A new steering wheel is not an inexpensive program. Think about this: Airbags - Crashworthiness testing - thorax crush tests........long-term heat/cold durability.........it isn't an inexpensive project - AND - -what makes you think that some people would like it any better????

We DID make a 'unique' Camaro steering wheel.......and it was the basis of a lot of complaints..........so we changed it.

Now:

A history lesson in "Camaro-ese"

Go look at a Camaro - 1967 thru 1981.........you will note that the steering wheel is a 'divisional' steering wheel...........it is not unique to Camaro. (the horn button is.....)

Most of the 2nd gen steering wheels are 'sport' wheels - the same ones used in Vegas and Novas.......the rest for the most part were the ones used on Novas and Chevelles..........

IN FACT: When we added Steering wheel radio controls on the 4th gen - we used the Monte Carlo steering wheel. Trust me on this!

The 3rd gen had its own steering wheels..................................that's it.

So - using 'Divisional' steering wheels on Camaro is nothing new.......

As to "Sub 20 econo-s##t-box" --

Have you driven a Cruze? I must say that I take exception to your calling the Cruze a "s##t-box" -- it is anything but!

AND - for the record - the wheel you are looking at is a Volt Steering wheel........rest assured that the Volt is not a 20K car........

Many many complaints early on with the Camaro steering wheel - we tried to remain close to the concept..........

However -- when we got a substantial amount of complaints we listened to the customer - we showed the wheel to our Disciples - and many others....and the result was that they liked it. we listened to the customer!

I have to disagree any NON Z28 or IROC steering wheel in the 82-89 models were FAR uglier. my 88 coupe had one like this, and first thing I did was swap it out for a 3 spoke rim from Grant with satin silver 'spokes'

I don't think there's anything wrong with the new steering wheel. It probably addresses some of the common ergonomic complaints and it looks fine. However, I for one truly appreciate GM's effort to develop a unique 'Camaro' steering wheel and am glad that I already have my 2010 2SS/RS. The three spoke design with the round hub instantly reminded me of the steering wheel on my 1989 Iroc-Z (which is still my favorite of the three Camaros I own). Please tell me that the 2010/2011 wheel will continue to be available through the GM parts dealer network for those who would prefer to have it...
