Doug Thorley shorties install questions

Anyone who has installed Doug Thorley shorties I have some questions.
1) Do they install from above or below. If below, how high do you have to jack the front end up?
2) Do you have to remove the cats like the instructions say to do?
3) How long does it take?
4) Any issues with alignment to the cat flanges?

Thanks!

Driver above, Passenger side below.
No need to remove the cats or the wires that go to the sensors. Just loosen the bolts that hold them on.
Use a floor jack and jack up high enough to get the header in.
Took 1.5 hrs
Don't remeber any alignment issues to the cat flanges

I encountered alignment issues with the cat flange on the driver-side. 'Had to take it to my exhaust shop and have the guy heat it up with the welding torch to line them up (at least he didn't charge me). Mine must have just had a glitch with the alignment, as I haven't heard of anyone else with that issue. I don't know how it took these guys 1.5-3 hours to do the swap. It took me and bobby35ny 9 hours to do mine and we weren't goofing around. I guess it was because it was hard to get around without a good lift and just a jack and we had trouble getting the stock passenger-side manifold out. Don't let it deter you though. I'm pretty happy with the performance now that everything's aligned correctly.

Took me about 5 hours. Had to remove the cats in order to remove from the bottom. The instructions say to remove the manifold and cats as 1 piece. I found it easier to unbolt at the flange that connects the cats to the manifold. There's a couple of manifold bolts that require slow going with a wrench. The only thing I didn't like was that they don't come with new gaskets. Overall not that bad, and love the headers.

Did you re-use the old gaskets or get new ones?

I did the install last night, took about 5 hours total! Driver's side I did alone in about 1 1/2 hours and installed from the topside. The passenger side I had help with and took about 3 1/2 hours. All went well and I thank all of you for your advise and suggestions. Now today I'll take her out for a spirited romp to see how they sound and perform! All in all the install went fairly smooth, just tough to get some of the manifold bolts out and had a little trouble lining everything up. Definatly a 2 man project.

So can you tell the differance in the ol butt dyno? I am thinking of putting a set on as well but want to know if they are worth it or not! I wouldnt expect to see or feel a huge differance but you should feel something !

1. When removing the oil dipstick tube do you also need to drain the oil?

2. Did anyone have any trouble with wirings coming close to the headers (Need to use zip ties to put them in better position)?

3. Does the stock header shielding fit over these? If so would it make any difference?

Thanks for the help!
