Just because you're unarmed does not mean you are not dangerous. In that situation, Im not going to wait to see if you are going to hurt me or comply.. the suspect should have went peacefully. At that point he was only guilty of a traffic offense.

Unarmed means nothing if the suspect was trying to wrestle the gun away from the cop.

IAD and the review board will interview witnesses and look at any dashcam footage from the incident. It's too early to make judgements.

If i am in a fight and someone seats on me , all bets are off , but again we just have one side of the story

Again , we don't have all the facts , we may never know for sure what really happen , for every story there is at least two sides , always .

They are human. Better trained to handle these situations than most of us, but still they are human.

Unarmed does NOT mean not dangerous, especially if he had the officer on the ground on his back after a struggle.

It's not an Indy Pace Car, the stripes aren't close enough together, or wide enough. For those of you wondering.

I'd be willing to bet that most of you that have an immediate opinion of "the officer should have done this" or "should not have done that" have never worked one day in the field as an officer.

I am not saying that you are wrong for feeling the way you do and i must admit that I might be a little bias because I am a cop. I have been in a shooting before and it is nothing like a training exercise. When you are placed in fear for your life, you have to react accordingly. I cannot say why he shot multiple times, but I am sure he had his reasons.. I feel for the young man who had his life ended, but I am just happy the officer is ok..

Touch a cop with force get shot. Simple math really. You don't wanna die - then don't throw people (much less cops) to the ground.

If he would have listened to the officer, he would still be alive, and if he was drinking and driving, he got what he deserved.....................................

Cops are trained to shoot central body mass. This lessons the chance of a stray bullet. I have read of few suspect shootings with less than one bullet fired.

I feel for the young mans family over his poor decisions. But I truely feel for the officer and his family especialy over the hooidays. This shooting will haunt him the rest of his life. With any luck he will have support from his cheif backing him durning investigation. I support the officer immediatly after reading this. Now I pray investigation proves a rightful shooting.
