Tire tread vs. Camaro fender = OUCH
Well today was not a great day for the Camaro my wife was on her way home from work when she was passing an 18-wheeler when all of a sudden one of the inside tires on the trailer let loose causing the other tire to go and so went the flying chunks of tire she was able to avoid all of the flying stuff when one last piece came off and hit the passenger side of the car. At this point the truck was pulling over and my wife decided to pull over as well and see if she could see any damage. All looked fine until she inspected the front ¼ panel (passenger side) she noticed a 1 ½” deep gouge in the fender it was deep enough to take off the paint and a good chunk of the plastic from the fender. The driver of the truck called into his dispatch and the Florida FHP were called to get a report the trucking company (large local company) said they will take care of the damages and to get an estimate at my shop of choice and call them today or tomorrow to arrange a repair. Good thing my wife decided to stop and check for any damage or this would have come out of my pocket oh well it was bound to happen at some point.
Sean

The good thing is it doesn't look to bad. It could have damaged a panel, headlight housing, wife. That should be a quick fix.

luckily the trucking company said they would fix it. I had a trucker damn near wreck his truck after something similar happened to me in a truck I used to have. When he realized I was stopping too he kept going. Then when I tried to get the name off the door he slammed his brake almost causing an accident. It was crazy. Ended up going on and fixing it out of pocket.

Sorry to see that Sean. But, like everyone else said, she's OK and the sheet metal can be repaired. Still makes you mad though. Could have been alot worse.

Quick thinking on your wifes part. In florida my wife drove under a toll pass while they were working on it. They dripped cement in globs on here car and windshield. She kept on driving. Didn't tell me until she got home from work and guess what, it was hard cement by then. Could not get it off. Only way to remove it was with a sander. Had she pulled over right away I would not have had to fight with the Dept of transportation for 3 months to get them to pay for it.
Oh and yeah, they tried to deny it.

When those truck tires blow, bad things happen. Good to hear that everyone is alright and the company is going to be paying for damages.
