V6 Turbo Camaro
So, we have been building a ton Camaros (you should see our parking lot, we have 7 of them here today), but most of them were the SS version and either L99's or LS3's, but we now have a new project and it's soooo cool. We have been asked by the owner of a V6 Inferno Orange Camaro to build a turbo package for it!!!!! Anyway, I'm going to be making a series of videos about this car but I figured everyone here might want to check it out.
Anyway, If you are interested in watching this build up, subscribe to this thread and i'll update it whenever we have more pics and video for you. |

well, i'll certainly try. I believe it's getting a single borgwarner turbo. I know Fastlane is currently writing the tuning software pack since none of the normal vendors are planning on writing anything for the camaro for the next 6 months.
I already have a before dyno video but it's a little misleading. It shows the before (completely stock) then an after with just a cold air intake that we built. (we were testing and this is without a tune.) |

Holy crap! Those are some decent gains from just a CAI! What CAI is that?

Auto? The Manual should be putting down numbers closer to 260 stock.
And I'll be following this build with interest. Probably won't be doing turbo (more of a Eaton guy) but there's a lot I can take away from this anyway. - X

19 is higher than the average CAI intake gains with no tune for this car - most are seeing between 11 and 14. I'd also be interested in more info on that setup.

yep, it's pretty high, but the torque went down. We will see once we get it tuned.

for simplicity sake, retain the stock manifolds and use GN style extensions for a single turbo setup. Should be plenty of room for a small framed turbo on the drivers side. Fuel pump isn't any different than normal non-DI cars, all the heavy pressurization is done by a mechanical pump at the engine level of delivery (slap in a walbro and be done w/ it )
A mild system w/ a piggyback system shouldn't be a problem. Auto trans is rated at 500nm input, although that is the factory maximum rating for it's entire lifespan coverage. Should be able to hold much more, but there will be premature wear. Wonder if the stock tranny ECU will control the 80 series trans... |
