Tires!

Now that the new ZL-1's are finding their new homes with there new proud owners, has anyone else priced the tires for these bad boys before you go and burn off all that rubber? I'm not complaining by no means, just figured if we can help fellow Camaro5 members get the best deal on a set of tires for these awesome cars. Post the pricing you find here!! I priced the stock tires and I got a price of $500-$550 here in New Mexico! I found some online for around $400-$450 but didn't check shipping price. If and when you have to replace your tires, are you going to put the stock tires back on, or will you go with something a little different, and what would the price and brand of those be?

Finding the Goodyears a little noisy - How about others?

Goodyears are noisy to me also.

I plan on going with Nitto 555R's for my next set of street tires.

I really enjoy these tires. Even in the wet, they seem to find grip. I'm anxious to see how long they LAST....but then that's one of those trade-offs made for super-sticky grip.

The local tire store will install a full set for around $1700 dollars. That includes balancing...

Also - it needs to be mentioned...in order for the PTM system to remain optimally effective, you need to have those OEM tires on the car....

They don't make one in the ZL1's wheel size at the moment....but they're in the neighborhood of ~$450..

I researched this a while back...I can't remember which tire it was but I only saw one the same tire size and it was more expensive...between 500 and 600 slightly higher than the GY's

If memory serves, there is one winter tire, Pirelli Scorpions, and Pirelli PZero summers...

You can probably make a Michelin Super Sport fit if you accepted slightly lower/higher aspect ratios...It's been a while since I looked all that up...and honestly, so far - not feeling much reason to opt for a different tire at this point.

FYI, my local dealer mentioned that these tires are a bear to mount on the rims. He mentioned that just mounting them to the rims would cost $100 each.

Run flats are noisy. Switching away is better in every way except when you have a flat. Roll nitto's if you want to save money. Nt05's are the best choose of bang for the buck right now for a car like this that corners awesome as well.

Michelin's are nice but they are expesive as well.

Time to find someone else then as you dealer is raping you. Mounting a tire with a stiff sidewall sucks at times but $100 means he sucks at mounting tires and is afraid he will scratch a rim. Dealers don't do enough tire volume so they price gouge.

So, you really feel like the Goodyears are "super sticky"? Really? And it really sucks for ZL1 owners if what you say is true about the PTM and they cannot opt for better tires.

315/35-20 tires are +0.3" in diameter. My service mgr. tells me 0.3" should not cause a problem. The size can be programmed into the ECU.
