Back in 1970 or so, I used to run camera film from K-Mart and such up the road to a central drop location. I did this in the middle of the night from Fayetteville NC to Raleigh and Greensboro and such.

'64 Chevelle, 350, cam, headers.... I pull into the only open convenience store in Fuqua Varina (a one light 2 cop town).

I may have left the parking lot a tad fast/sporty....lights come on 1/4 mile later and the Andy Griffith LEO gives me a ration about speeding/ reckless driving and the like and that the store owner complained.

My friend riding along says "Officer, I can attest that he did not scratch off with the tires or speed....but he may have loud mufflers."

Officer gets me out of the car and revs and revs and revs to motor. "Yep, it loud alright when you rev it up he says".........I get a writ of habius corpus, To Wit, loud mufflers. That cost me my pay for that day.

I actually had a LEO accidentally pull all 3 copies (mine, court copy & his copy) out of his ticket book and hand them to me. We had such a good rapport, as he was handing them to me I asked: "Am I supposed to get all of these?"

At the very moment I started asking the question, my heart sank realizing I had all the copies in my hand and the court wouldn't have a copy.

He obviously replied, "no" and proceeded to take back his 2 copies.

I still kick myself over that one. I would have framed them...
