People always ragged on the 2007-2012 GT500s saying they can't hook up, when in reality, any car with this much power is going to struggle on a non-R compound tire. It gets way worse when you mod as well. It's not hard to build a 650-700whp car, but it will need to run drag radials all od the time for it to be any fun.

Guys...I can tell you this. I did have it set up in Launch Mode and PT5 and no lift. Once launched, I did not miss a beat...very swift and clean shifts. This time below was the day before and I did a practice run by myself to see what it would be like...go figure. Look at the RT...OMG (Luck) But the ET was not great. It was also about 91 degrees.

If we keep in mind this was all in good fun and both drivers indeed had said fun, then really what more is there to say? Hopefully we'll see more owner shootouts over the rest of the summer.

I say go to track when the weather is better is what I say hahaha.
No offense but who goes to the track when its 91* out hoping to run good. Its just not gonna happen, especially if its nice and humid out. After I started racing in a index series and had to race in all temperatures, I learned very quickly how much the weather DA all that stuff will really effect your times. So I stopped going to test n tunes June-September. Would only go in late april, early may or October and if the track was still open November hahah. My 07 Mustang GT ran 13.60s in the summer heat at around 101-102MPH. Then took the car in late october and ran 13.30s I wouldnt be disappointed at bad times/traps in the summer months. If its still happening when its nice cool out, then I would worry. |

The problem with the idea of running these cars in cool temps for better trap times doesn't hold water. These cars were in the hands of owners with cool temps present, yet bad trap times still occurred.

I ran mine at the track last Friday and used the launch control which gave too much tire spin. If I had DR's I could have had way better times. Not a fair fight!

I love how ppl from GM remain mum on the poor performance, they are there to "high five" everyone who talks the car up but not to be accountable in regards to problems
I need a job like that

MUM is not the word they are pretty much dont exist right now. Face it the 12 ZL1 vs the 12 500 is a win, but against the 13 its not close. Maybey thats why the had to release it as a late 12 model year to compete against the 12 500. Just think had the waited to release it a few monts later and called it a 13...... Im just saying, thats all

Don't we have a ZL1 bone stock on DRs running mid 11's? I could swear I remember one of the C5 members posting this?
Found it. Was on slicks, but 100% stock. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ighlight=11.43

every review I have watched to date that got a good et just turned the traction system off and launched the car.
that is what I do in my vette. every time I see slow ET's it seems someone is trying to use the launch control or some ptm mode. fastest ET I have seen to date is 12.02 manual car, traction control off, short shifted@5800rpm. even the GT500 is slower with it launch control on just only .2 not .5-.7 like the ZL1 seems to suffer.
