2010 Turbo Camaro SS Vs. 03 Dodge Viper
Had a buddy of mine purchase a 03 Srt-10 viper and wants to go to the track once my car is fixed. What are your thoughts from a standing quarter mile or a highway pull on who would win. Im pushing 586 rwhp/615 tq. Havent tracked my car yet so I dont know where i would really ballpark myself with those numbers. Both cars are manual. His car is stock. Any thoughts here are the specs for the 03 viper.

If you can hook up I'd say your car will win

Gonna need some sticky drag radials to win I would think. The viper is around vette weight and performance for that year (they always seem to be tit for tat) so its a stout contender.

Put on a set of DRs and you should have him. With your Hp#'s you should be closer to 11.0-11.2 if you hook up. I'm at 11.4 at 540hp...

I am surprised at the stats you posted for the Viper in that year. I didn't think they were that fast. You should beat him, but as others have said...driver's race to win or lose.

The 03 is the first year of the 3rd gen with the 8.4L (505ci) engine. It weighs less than 3400 pounds. The mamba package cars are in the 3.5 / 11.5 range but were 06 specific.
I think the Camaro will win this one. Better power to weight ratio. |

Another thing, if the viper is on street tires he will run low to mid 12`s for that year range Viper. They are impossible to hook up on street tires, I have seen them over and over again run those numbers. I have yet to see one run 11`s on street tires. They are capable, just look at the mph, but talking to the drivers and watching them, they don`t hook worth a darn.

Just get the largest stickiest DR tire that you can find and you will smoke him. At the track lower the DR to about 20PSI then do a 5-10 second burnout. If you get a good clean launch and hit all your shift points right it should be a no contest. Technically a 586RWHP Camaro should be capable of running 10's in the right weather, track with the right driver so if the the Viper is stock and you drive it right it should be a easy race. Even if the Viper had Dr's of his own and was a great driver you should take him as long as you launch right and drive right.

No car is "stock". especially an 03, if he is the original owner, no way he has had it that long and not done anything. Heck if hes only had it a year I doubt its stock. I would believe him for a second if he said its stock.

When cars cost just shy of $95k new, some people don't see the point in modding them. Just saying.
